Skiing in LA

i always thought it would be cool to find some sweet rails in LA and go get snow from an ice rink there and hit it. be some cool shots with palm trees and stuff.

For some reason I decided to go to college in LA. All the real skiing i got this year was during breaks when I went back to the Northwest. Fortunately, I get 7 weeks off during winter. but between those 7 weeks, all my skiing involves hitting rails in LA. It's fun at first, but gets old quickly.

i cant think of any good ones right now.. but taht'd be so tight...theres a nice rail going down the stadium at my bros school like 55 feet. ppl skate it all the time.

Mammoth is 5-6 hours away. It is a drive, but it is worth it. I went to school in Santa Barbara, and got up to Mammoth usually 3 weekends a month, for about 3 days most of the time. Back then you could get an early bird pass for 600 in june. We had a deal where you could pay about 200 at the begining of the year and have a cabin to stay in all winter up there. There would often be like 20-30 people there, but it was worth it. I think the MVP passes are grandfathered-in only now, so sorry if you missed that boat. 485 for a full season pass to mammoth is the best deal anywhere.

i kinda want to go to UCLA but the lackage of skiage is one of the things holding me back

I've lived in LA my entire life... and yes, it does suck for a skier. We have Mountain High and Bear... both of which are barely decent durning a good season... but at least the season passes are dirt cheap. Mammoth is about 4 hours away...

Mt. Baldy is over 10,000 feet and is 45 mils from LA. that is where the real skiing is at enf of story. Mtn High and Bear are pretty much a joke with the exception of some big hits crammed into their runs.

Baldy also got "Mountain of the Month" in FREEZE mag.(rip) a few years back.

Mtn. High, Summit, or Bear did not! Also Powder Mag. has done several stories on Baldy. the place is sick.

baldy is that good, huh? I went to Mammoth and Big Bear a few times this winter, but didn't get out to Baldy. i'm still pretty new to SoCal.

same here.

yeah i go to college in the bay.

i get to go to tahoe for maybe 2-4 days a year.

all my skiing is during breaks back in washington.

i've also lived in so cal my entire life. mammoth is 4 hours away. i don't waste my time at big bear or mountain high. 38 days so dar this season...
