soo this winter im planning a trip to Iran and Turkey,

to go check shit out, as ive heard the heli skiing in turkey is epic

and the ski resorts in iran are amazing as well,

ive heard they get epic snow and therese no westerners there,

anyone ever been there before or heard anything? any info would be amazing!

search the forums over on TGR. I know there was a thread about this not long ago. most people here don't leave the park, let alone travel to Turkey or Iran to ski.

We were in Saklikent, or however u spell it, a few years back in early january.

it wasnt a skiing holiday so we just visited the place for a day, it had a couple of lifts and only a few trails open cause of the lack of snow.. But that place had potential for some epic powder turns with a bit more snow. You could go up the mountain whit a lift and come back down skiing pow all you want, cause the locals there didnt seem too interested about it.

I really want to visit Kashmir after seeing Azadi:Freedom at IF3. Such a cool movie. Check it out of you guys get the chance.

Probably not the place for getting this kind of travel info.

I've been there, PM me for more info.

Are you American? Turkey is a stable nation and that shouldn't really be a problem at all. If you can afford it and have a passport, you can do it.

I did some very brief research (I Googled it) on skiing in Iran as they have some of the highest "resort" terrain in the world. It's certainly doable, but the US and Iran don't have diplomatic relations so you have to jump through a couple small hoops to get into the country. The real kicker is that the Feds travel site warns that Americans have been detained and questioned when they're touring around the country.

You'd have to be a ballsy traveler, but it sounds like you've already got some experience in that area.

Here's an article from the UK on the topic:http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/2008/feb/24/iran.skiing

Yeah, traveling to Iran sounds like a great idea. Maybe you get get travel tips from these folks when they are all finally released:

The only way I would be traveling to Iran is in this:

I went to a resort called dorukkaya in turkey a couple of years back and the powder was good but there was literally only 12 runs! By February the mud is showing through the snow low down too. However, the night life is dope and there are some awesome stashes around if you look hard enough!

same here man! except it was my mom haha. i really wanna go ski iran, ive heard some crazy stories from my family about the mountains and snow.

Is this another one of those places that are just oh so terrible and everyone wants to just hurt you? God damn...

Go to Iran. It looks rad and I bet it would be a great skiing experience. I spent a bit of time in Eastern Turkey (where the better skiing is) and although I didn't get a chance to do any skiing there, they do have some pretty sizeable peaks. Paladoken is your best bet I believe. I really enjoyed it in eastern Turkey, as it is so different from the western side. The people are friendly, and its definitely a bit more raw. Have fun!
