Skiing in CT

I have heard that Mt southington in ct has upgraded and has a new park. Is it any good. I am looking for a park close to home to waste a few hours over spring break.
 
sorry dude, when i said southington i meant sundown

i was talking to a kid on mount snows lift during the dew tour and he was hyping sundown and saying we should hit it up
 
sundown was crappy last weekend, 1 slush 20ft step over. 1 S hand rail. 2 flat bars. and a dragon tail bar. guess I've been spoiled living at Mnt Snow

thats kinda how it is now, but they threw in a bunch more stuff. it goes:

flat bar

s rail

dfd

half pipe thingy / 32 / down box

bonk / big red as a drop / flat box / unbow

and a 20-25ft step over
 
yea we are talkin bout the cut. and no disrespect to southington, they hold there own. but sundown is as legit as the come in ct
 
no east coast park is going to compare to mount snow...
But, compared to all the other parks in CT, Sundown owns.
 
as stated already, sundown is your best bet. southington i would not even call a hill. I went to school at Sacred Heart so we would made day trips to Sundown frequently
 
tomorrow I have a demo day at southington for next years salomon's Woot ski shop employee. I will take some pics of there for ya! lol

everyone is shutting down southington in this thread but ive skiied both fairly recently and last time i was at southington they had 2 pretty decent 20-25 ft stepdowns and a bunch of features when sundown just had one jump
 
was there tonight for my shop's salomon demo. the new 2012's are sick.
their park consists of:
urban flat bar. 20ft
15ft up corrugated(sp) pipe to 5ft gap. -or- 5ft step over
15ft flat bar urban get up
20ft a frame box
5-15ft down flat bar
25ft step down with no lip
25ft step over horrible lip, rutted landing

It is exactly 40'...it just looks shorter cause it's curved, but the length of the rail (if it was straight) is 40' and I'm STILL stoked on it every time I make - it's not easy.
 
you say it sarcastically, but what is your other option in ct? yeah you could go up north, but thats more expensive, and a farther drive. im just happy we have something close we can go to thats fun.
 
i have nothing against sundown besides being so overpriced. i worked there throughout high school so it was cool skiing there for free. but now i think its worth paying the gas to drive up north and ski a more legitimate mountain for the same price, or possibly less. butternut isn't too far and its something like $25 for a whole day, versus $55 at sundown... which is smaller and usually more crowded.
or you could go up to mt snow and pay a few bucks more to ski a mountain thats 5 times the size and infinitely better.
