SKIING IN CHILE?

I was offered the opportunity to go to Chile with some friends, this summer, therefore their winter. How is it to ski there? how is it for touring? and how dangerous is it compared to Europe skiing?

Skied Portillo and Valle Nevado last summer. Didn't have time to go touring but there's some super sick stuff near portillo (google super C couloir). Have also heard good things about touring around Las Leñas in Argentina

How was Portillo? I wanted to check it out next year, but the map makes it look pretty small and accommodations I looked at were more expensive than I expected. Any tips?

There's a lot of sick terrain and barely any people, if you're touring there's quite a bit to explore, however I went alone and didn't have any touring partners. It's cheaper if you stay in the Inca Lodge (like a hostel), and while it seems a bit more expensive it covers lift tickets, 4 meals, etc.

If you want to go touring, then you should definitely check Las Leñas and Nevados de Chillan. Portillo its nice too but it could get a little expensive. For all around skiing and cheap prices then come to Santiago, 1 hour and a half away from the airport you have three resorts: El Colorado, Valle Nevado and La Parva, one next to each other.
