Hey guys, any of you been down to Chile to shred? I'm planning a trip in the end of August for Valle Navado I think. Could use some advice on travel and what not if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks:)

watch out for the weather, looks like they havent even gotten any snow yet.

check alpineadventures.com

I'm in Santiago. It's been snowing on and off in the mountains for the last few days now. This is a photo of the foot of the Andes from my flat (obviously the resorts are quite a bit higher than this):

I'm not sure how much has fallen in Valle Nevado, probably only about 10/20 cms but there's another meter of snowfall at the top of Valle Nevado forecast for this week. This time last year they'd already had over a meter of snow and quite a few people have been saying this season won't be great. Have you thought about going to Portillo? Pretty much guarenteed to get better conditions there, and it's beautiful; amazing BC too.

If you have any q.s send me a PM and I'll try and answer them.

just heard its starting to dump in portillo. i know on alpine adventures you can do portillo for a few days, head to santiago and then to valle nevado as a package deal. check it out and good luck

Yup. They've had 75cm in the last week (50 since yesterday) and a load more to come I'm sure.

50% Portillo 50% Valle Nevado sounds like a damn good trip to me. Just take be aware when booking that often the road between Portillo and Santiago can get blocked with heavy snowfall. Portillo has some pretty hard core small print about this, which you can find at the bottom of this page: http://www.skiportillo.com/html-eng/rates.html

damn yo if anyone needs a skiing buddy to head down there (you pay my way of course muhahaha) i'll be glad to join you

yeah, i've seen alpine adventures, it just seems that all the package deals are pricey for what you get, plus a more locales way of getting around and seeing chile would be much more enjoyable

check out las lenas, argentina, my mom has skied there, its amazing big mountain and its in the summer, im hopefully going next summer, but she said it was a amazing
