i'm thinking of moving to teach english in asia for 6 months or a year and would want some good mountains nearby. Japan seems to be the obvious location but does anyone know anything about skiing in Korea, or maybe China?

There is a LOT of skiing in the continent of Asia.

Apart from the obvious Japan and South Korea.... there is skiing in:

China (for example Badaling)

India (Kashmir... for example Gulmarg)

Iran (several big resorts)

Turkey (resorts in the central part, and heliskiing in the north east)

Lebanon (resorts, but the country is fucked right now)

Kazachstan (only heliskiing)

Kamchatka, Russia (only heliskiing)

Iran is tight, one of the coolest countries. the people are so warm and friendly and the snow is good, americans have a bit of trouble entering, but its not impossible.

russia if you count that as asia is tight heli skiing for $30US a day with the added thrill of old soviet choppers that are kept together with string and gaffer tape (not kidding)

yeah KOREA fuckin represent..its really mountainous over there and the terrain parks are decent jumps and rails... and the night life is fuckin fun..plus the koreans will prob love an american dude tht can shreed..

Aren't the olympics in 2014 being held in Russia? I don't know if anybody saw Pep and Pollard shredding Krasnaya Polyana (which I'm pretty sure is the resort the olympics are gonna happen at) in Hit List, but that segment was amazing. Ridiculous pow.
