no...i already explained this to a couple of the kids in my area...in twenty years eveyone is going to be over the baggy shit and start going for really tight gear, and exentually they'll get to spandex, then they will be like lets rebel from the 'freeskiers' and do some 'oldschool' stuff like racing(since in twenty years racing will be 'oldschool') and then the really good skiiers will rebel and do that, and sooner or later everyone will go in the direction and racing will be the hot shizzit, shit. Everything is full circle.

OK, scientists are fucking wrong, just like everything else globabl temps follow some kind of wiggly cirle of fluctutation, there'll still be snow. Maybe indoor ski areas will be a bit more common, but I don't see them catching on like ice cream in Japan... Skiing itself follows about the same way, it's back on an upcurve, but it's not anywhere near rounding off the top, I don't want to sound negative but we've got a long ways to go. Truthfully in 20 years I think all we've done in these last 8 years will be forgotten, and what we think of being cutting edge in style will be more commonplace. It's not going to be like on 'Back to the Future II' were in 2010 we'll have flying cars and hover boards, but that's what they thought in 1985, or at least it looked good in a movie... Just be glad your here today doing what you're doing, don't stop, it's not a fad, it can be a way of life. We're all part of something so much bigger, and that's more the point of this question, cause it IS so damn big!

 
i think in pipe and stuff, it'll be like snowboarding with spinning both ways, and switch takeoffs and landings like it's no big deal through the runs. it's gonna be ridiculous.

Tricks will be the same with maybe a couple sig tricks added every once an a while.. just as the Wilson Flip just came out. I figure lots of indoor ski places will be everywhere. And terrain parks will be huge with crazy creative features and more creative rails. As resorts begin to compete more and more the parks will become better and better untill even the eastcoast will have good parks..(haha).

Skiing in 20 years will not resemble skiing the way it is today. Just look at surfing, skateboarding, racing, etc. The changes are so unpredictable that it is hard to imagine. I would guess, though, that the way we are skiing right now is going to be considered so old school and gay looking. People will say 'How did those kids like Tanner hall and Jon Olsen actually consider themselves cool' Think about how we think about hotdoggers from the 70s. I bet all hits in the park will be sculpted to perfection and natural snow will no longer be used. Something more sturdy and shapable will take its place. The jumps will be huge, and that if you case it or overshoot you pretty much break your back. Rails will become long and steep, but kink numbers will not go up. People will be doing 630s over a 50ft disasterr onto a doulbel kink. Basically, it will look more like a video game.

Being out there skiing every day, good or bad, just playing around with friends, with no contests or filming- that is the real spirit of skiing for me. that is why i started skiing, and if i lose those moments that is what will make me stop skiing.
 
i very much disagree to what midwest rep guy said. If you lok at skateboaridn gand stuff , our skis will get really high tech but not in a bad way , bcuz iif it was bad thne they woudltn do it, jumps will probably be shaped perfectly and such and be really big but maybe we'll discover someweird thing about them like well start having mad step downs , or the whole thign wil b downhill , ( thats obviousl ynot it, but somethign) if people were just brekaing their back sand shit on jumps then they wouldnt make jumps like thta bcuz htat woudl cost the ski resort big time so it makes no sense. rails might die out though or something, its really completlyt unpredictbaloe theres wayyy to many possiblities, but history is supspo t to repeat itself i htink , or it doesnt ? idont rememebr

I think someone or something will change skiing in 15-20 years. Look at the urethane wheel and how it changed skatenoarding, and fiberglass and how it changed surfing... I do know one thing: all powder skis will be like spatulas, cuz that shit will get big.

it sounds a little hard to explain, but many scientists say that areas over 1100m altitude will get more and more snow. More Avalanches and so on. I don't know why this can happen through a heating process, but it will be. Maybe not in 20 years. But lateron

I don't know man at the rate things are doing there won't even be terrain parks anymore with all the gpers sueing reosrts when they get broke off. There's too much liability. I thinkwe can look at snowboarding where new tricks aren't being invented at nearly the rate they were 10 or even 5 years ago. But now people are going huge with 150 foot booters and stuff like that. And the whole cornice thing that hasn't really started in skiing. Check out Lukas Huffman and Tadashi Fuse in Shakedown those guys go huge. Doing like cab 7's off 70 foot cornice drops. Lukas does the hugest switch 5 ever off of a roller with no lip its crazy. Everyone will be going to natural terrain just like I've been saying all along. no more stmping out lips, it's all natural. And obviously the switch thing in powder is gunna be crazy especially with the new skis for that stuff. Yeah the future is looking sweet.
