Skiing Halfpipe

I've been interested in skiing halfpipe this season. I've always found it fun but can never really do anything but grabs. Any advice on doing spins and takeoffs and landings?

Go fast. Take chances. But for real just ride more if you have a local. That's the biggest issue these days is lack of pipes though.

I have a halfpipe at one of the locals (Loon if that matters) and i hit it everytime i hit LMP. I'm planning on hitting it more often

The Loon pipe is always so fucking icy, I’m absolutely terrified every time I hit it. Never aired out of it more than like 3 feet but I’m a pussy.

You gotta haul to air out of the pipe. Start slow but ease into more speed. I know when you’re at the base of the pipe you feel like you have way too much speed, but you lose a lot of speed going up to the lip. Good luck

First you need sharp edges or else you’re going to slide a bit. But basically a lot of it is your pumping rhythm like with riding a transition on a skateboard. To go bigger, you will need to drop in and try to almost “turn uphill” when you’re almost on the wall you intend to take off of. This will cause you to straighten your line and scrub less speed. It will feel really fast but, as a precious poster mentioned, you’ll lose speed fast. Make sure to pop OFF the wall at the top.

Keep in mind, there can be an icy side and a soft side. Also, it tends to be slow in the middle because that’s where it gets chopped up, snow falls to, etc

Have fun out there

I found it impossible to land because I would always be too far backseat , slushy pipes are so fun though . The only place that still has one in the east close to me is Loon

Skiing pipe is probably the most fun I’ve had in a park scene and watching the really good dudes is just dope, and it really teaches you pop and fixes back seat landings

I feel like the loon pipe never actually gets properly built. Either never enough snow, bad conditions, or they just don't bother. Idk I'd love to actually hit it this year tho
