SKIING HALFPIPE OLYMPICS

Fuck the olymics the olympics are for sports like running and shot put, and gay slalom racing, the olympics will inhbert the creative progreesion of skiing , and the fis will kill the sport, happened in moguls, happened to snowboarding (killed the ifsa) and the judging at salt lake was whack, heiki killed it and got screwed so did danny kass, all the big ski pros have been telling all you kids for years fis sucks fis sucks yet you dont listen.. look back on history, control is bad and mark my words history will repeat it self especially in a situation like this one.

I think anyone who is caught up in the drug issue is stupid. They dont want performance enhancing drugs. I think half pipes in the olympics would be sweet and very visible. However skiiers still have to get much more consistan in the pipe.

^^Explain how the Olympics are going to inhibit the progression of the sport? Explain how the Olympics 'killed' mogul skiing? How has the Olympics killed snowboarding? Just because it's popular now? Unless I'm mistaken, amazing progression has kept going in snowboarding. Chads was hit and landed by a boarder for the first time this year. People in both sports are boosting higher, flying further, and spinning faster every year. How will the Olympics change that? Because of the pleading and complaining of the athletes participating in SLC, inverts are now allowed in mogul skiing. Did that inhibit the progression of skiing?

I hate to break it to ya'll, but skiing is going to progress and get more popular whether you want it to or not. Newschool skiing was the biggest winter sport market for equipment last year. Sales of twintips and newschool oriented gear are blowing everything else away. Our sport is growing. Deal with it.

what about equipment and stuff? can they regulate width, sidecut and any other aspect of the skis? cuz that would be really godamn gay!

 
No, olympic athletes have to take drug tests no matter what theres no exceptions, my god mother went to the winter olympics in 82 and 88 for skiing and now shes on the committee, you most defineatly have to pass a drug test to compete which, i dont think i could name any skiiers who could.

the skiers would need to just stop doing weed for awhile, weed might not even show up on those tests, I think there for steroids.

halfpipe will never be in the olympics becasue its freestyle skiing and the FIS has complete control of all freestyle skiing int he olympics. nearly every single freestyle skiing althelete who is in the olympics competed in FIS comps all year to get there.

first off by 2010, newschool skiing wont be 'new' and second im sure that if the pro snowboarders can pass the drug test then so will the skiers. and whose to say the 12-14yr olds (the likly medal winners) will be as big a pot heads as ccrew. snowboarding halfpipe worked, so can skiing.

Boo hoo hoo. It will[/i] happen, face it, and it can only be a good thing for the sport in the long run. More people on the hill, more money to the resorts, bigger parks. And most importantly, more people involved in the sport. Why do some of you guys have such an elitist attitude? If kids start bugging their parents to buy them ski gear and drive them to the hills at every given chance then that's awesome as far as I can see it.

This whole issue about popularity and media coverage in snowboarding was argued to death 7 years ago, but it all worked out. There is nothing you can do to avoid this, so embrace it.

The drug Issue can easily be overcome. Football players take some special drink to get it out of there system according to Ricky Williams. You take it like an hour before the test. They wouldn't have to stop or worry about it. There is a way around anything.

^^ That won't work for Olympic-qualified athletes in Canada or the U.S. as their respective federations conduct knock-and-pee tests throughout the year. i.e. They show up at your house, gym, etc. unannounced and take samples. A friend of mine was already tested 5 times this year going into Athens.

Sean Pettit is a good call. How about Loon's Evan Wallace? 12 years old and working on a 900 in the pipe this summer. Should be interesting in a few years...

 
as far as i know, this year round drug testing you speak of didnt happen in snowboard halfpipe. pros showed up a few months prior to the games and tried out for spots on the team. no major 'training' and what not necessary
