Skiing halfpipe in olympics

My english teacher asigned my class a persuaisive essay and I thought that maybe doing it on putting Skiing halfpipe in the olympics. I told him that I can also bring in a video showing him that skiers can do the same stuff as snowboarding such as rails, jumps, and halfpipe. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to write a persuasive essay on putting halfpipe skiing in the olympics. Any suggestions would be a great help thanks
 
Yeah that would be sick i can tell him how many people are behind it and prove it by showing how many ppl signed the petition
 
yea, i was just assigned a persuasive essay also, i want to do mine on getting ski halpipe/slopeseytle in the olypmics, but i need to find 4 CREDIBLE sources- 2 online, and 2 offline, thats the problem
 
Make it technical including what the requirements are to make it an Olympic Event and map out a game plan for compliance by 2010. Use the video as justification for the cause. Then post it here!!!
 
Oh - the persuasive essay needs to be directed to the competition directors at various resorts in what I believe is 25 countries to be done under FIS guidlines.

Go about it comparing the two, and like you said showing what skiers can do now days. Some would argue that skiers are going even bigger in the halfpipe. Mention also how skiers can now drop "true switch", and the amplitude of dudes like Dumont and Tanner. Also mention skiing halfpipe being featured as a majoj event in the X-games which has highly influenced the Olympics now.

i honestly see no reason y its not in the olympics...it would get viewed by millions. im pretty sure line also has a petition going around for this too
 
start out with a situation, like a short story.

the pipe was lit as the candide dropped in..........

then have your paragraphs about skiing in the olympics
 
ok, the amplitude is nothing compared to the technicality the snowboarders are at right now in the halfpipe.

i mean, look at olympic sports, is there anything out there (other than figure skating) where they want elegance? they want controled hucking.

don't get me wrong, i'm not hating, and I do believe that skiing halfpipe can get a demostration spot in the 2010 Olympics, but we do have work to do as a sport before we can be deserving of the position.

bump...in my second year english class at college i am about to start writing a 2500 word paper on skiing halpipe and why it should be in the olympics. the thing is i need 5 actually published sources and another 3 from online. i have the online sources and i have 3 published ones. if anyone knows of any articles in magazines about this i really need some help with it. the articles i have are the one from the limited K2 mag Skeeze and the long one from this years freeskiier photo annual. i also have a small article from freeze in 03 that has a section with CR talking about it. anything will help ne out...thanks!
 
I am going to try and help you all out, the best way to approach this is to say that on a long shot, skiing may get in. The FIS must reach an agreement and put together a sweet, credible tour before the Vancouver committee meets on new events. After Torino I read and heard through sources that the IOC is not stoked on new sports, no matter the popualrity, I think the count is at two have been added so something would have to go to get skiing in.
