skiing "form" (style?)

my friend says that i have no form (kinda self taught) and that it looks ugly therefore I cannot ski powder and make it look 'good'. because i can do tricks he thinks im all tricks. he says that I should work on this 'form.' Even tho I ski most the runs on the mountain. it sounds like he just doesnt like my style? I think that he is just really out of touch with the latest styles and shit and still thinks its all about hop turns I donno. So is there a certain way to ski pow or is it any way u choose?

----now i lay me down to sleep, blah blah blah my soul to keep, if i die before i wake ill go to hell for heavens sake

unless you're flailing all over the place then your style is unique and thats cool. everyone tries to follow the same style now and it gets boring. how many times can you watch a skier do a gorilla 3 saftey with their feet like a foot apart?

i think everyone should have their own style but they should work on it so it brings down their riding. big mt steeze arent as diverse as park steeze so i think you r all right.

Thats the way I live my life: I grip it and I rip it.

the whole idea of working on your form is to try to get rid of wasted/excessive movements that cause you to have to work that much harder in situations like powder. The idea is to make your skiing easier, and at the same time, it makes you better - having a more solid basis in the funndamentals.

If your skiing has a solid base set of fundamentals, you will become a better park skier too. However, other peoples opinions are just that, opinions. If you are happy with the way you ski and have fun, that's all that matters.

style will come with repeated practice... once u get good at a certain trick then the style will start to fall in place cuz u have done it a million times. cant really force style, just gotta let it come

Some people talk it, some people live it, some people walk it-some people give it... deal with it.

I wouldn't worry about it. Only black people have style.

'Dude, check out this nasty gouge.'

'Your mom has a nasty gouge.'

im just gonna sling crystal meth so i dont have to get a real job and can afford to ski, with the way my senior year is goin though thats probably one of my few options

skiing is an art, it has to look good to some point, style definitely comes with time and creating your own style is key, but don’t forget to have fun, that’s the hole point…

park style is different than big mountain style, big mountain style is much stronger, either throwing huge super fast turns, straightlining a chute, billy-goating or simple short radius turns, they always look better if you seem to be in total and complete control of your situation. Park style has more to with how you approach hits and ride out of landings, also important in the air. Flailing looks bad no matter where you are.

You're friend might be right. Now, I definately would not call myself a good jumper but I do consider myself an extremely good all mountain skier. Skiing down a hill and doing jumps are a completely different thing. You can practice skiing you're whole life and still improve upon your form even if you are a level 4 ski instructor. Hop turns is an alright thing to practice to help you attain better form, but they aren't part of skiing in good form. Hop turns are only a lesson that you learn. The intructor would look at the hop turns and tell the person what they need to do different, resulting in better form.
