skiing for the rich??

skiing=for loaded people or those willing to make the sacrifices necessary to get the necessary stuff to ski, ie skis, boots, bindings, etc.

I'm not loaded, and skiing costs me about $4000 a year, if you factor in rent and food(had to move to BC, it ain't cheap!). But if you're willing to sacrifice, you can do it. Or just trust fund it, that's cool too. I wish I had a trust fund!

wooohhhhh... mommy returns. and yeah, BC is fucking expensive, i wasthinkin when i came up here, oh canada, good exchange rate, itll be cheap. but hell no! everything costs up here... and then i go off campus and i see kids cruising around in rx8s and new nissan Zs... and old guys in maserattis... damn them... well someday when im smart and have my shit together and am a real estate investor in whislter ill be the only multi-millionaire throwin down rodeos in the whistler park.

 
skiing is not expensive if you have a job and work acouple days a week for 4-6 hours a day. when you compair it to other things its not expensive at all. also how can you put a price tag on something you love to do?

 
it's not to expensive, i mean it could be cheaper for sure, but whatever i can afford it. but ya the wakeboarding comment on it being way more expensive is so true, boats, easy 70 or 80 grand for a good one like mastercraft or malibu

I hate people that say skiing is for the rich. Im so poor i have to work my ass off during the summer for skiing and Mountain Biking.

 
i am by no means rich, like i said, work at a mountain, or at a shop, or just get to know people and have connections. i havent paid for a season pass in about 6 or 7 years, have bought new stuff the past 2 years, totalling under $1000 (for 2 new pairs of skis and bindings, boots, and a jacket) and get all my food at the ski area half off cause i have friends who hook me up, so yeah, if you really want it to be, skiing isnt that expensive

i wouldnt necesarily say lucky, if you are at the mountain enough, you get to know people, its called networking. you just have to get in touch with the right people, at my mountain all the kids i ski with get more or less the same kinda deal, just cause we're friendly with all the staff and stuff

crystal: Kids cruising around in new Z cars and old guys in maseratis is a Vancouver thing. Most of the rest of Canada ain't like that, with the possible exception of downtown Toronto and Oakville. And yeah, skiing is for those with cash, there's no doubt.

for the people who say that skiing is not for the rich. when you first started skiing. what was your economic situation. if you're parents were broke you wouldn't have ever had the oportunity to ski in the first place. and for the guy with all the connections on the hill for free swag, how doy you get these connections by being on the hill if you can't enitially get onto the hill.

I am not poor, I lied. I am middle class. But skiing is not super expensive. One summer of work is enough to get EVERYTHING you need to start skiing. Plus, if you are under 18 you can employ Christmas to your needs. Have your family members pitch in to get you a season pass for Christmas.

skiing is a rich mans sport however most of the people that are on this site love the sport. it is not about the money or the best new equipment it is about the love of getting fresh tracks. it is the love of the first crisp air you feel each season. i love skiing and i am not rich at all i work at a ski shop so that i can ski for free and i spend the money that i make on my car and new gear however i am on her every day because i love the sport and i hope all of you do also
