Skiing for Skiing

Does anyone on here simply like to ski? Half the people on this forum are always talkin' about how much better they can throw down then everyone else. I was just wondering if anybody else rides because it makes them happy?

I think there are alot of people on this site who just ride to make them happy. It's just that we jib too. I mean who can not enjoy a awesome big mountain day with fresh snow and with all your friends. A good day in the park is also something to appreciate. I think that our sport has come along way, we should beable to enjoy everything. weather it be at the top of the mountain or the bottem. I hope there isn't anyone out there that has lost site of this, and only does jibbing.

I think its just that talking about regular skiing isn't really interesting. So we still do it, but its nothing great to have a discussion about. there woudl be like 1 post in this whole ns.com forum if it was only about skiing and no park. SO that's why probably....

i for one cannot stand staying in the park. i'll ski through it on occasion, but i dont ski park a whole lot. i love just ripping down bowls and steep groomers and hitting cliffs and just hauling ass in general. thats what is the most fun for me. i love being able to keep skiing all day, and i don't like sitting in the park getting all nervous for one jump when i could be out skiing better terrain.

I ski park more than anything. Probably because of my hills 200 vertical feet and 3 runs. When I go to a nice place I spend a little time in the park cause its usually way better than where I usually ski but I like to hit the rest of the resort.

My girlfriend told me to shove my skis up my ass

yea, here in the midwest the park is really all that's exciting...now when I go to Aspen in March you can bet I'll be hitting the park very little.

Maybe a couple days will be spent in the park, but only cause I get to ride the same park used in x-games slopestyle... :)

This post was brought to you by me, Jeff Meeker.

I ski for fun. I just started park skiing, but I will never give up 'old school' skiing. I go through the park atleast a 3 or 4 times a day though. mostly because I am striving to get better at park skiing because righ now I suck. As it stands I am motherly good at old schooling. once (if ever) I get good at park skiing I would probably go through the park less but make more of it.

That really depends. Sometimes i ski, just to progress or show off, mainly at a competition or in training. But when i'm just out with some friends, then all i do is have fun.

I live in PA where the only thing challenging is Park and Iced over moguls. But when I was in Utah over New Years for 2 weeks I never even thought about entering the park, I was too busy skiing chutes of knee deep powder. Anyone who lives in the west and skis park all day should be shot~ well not really I just would love to live in UT

I ski to ski... I do it cause I want to, and I use it to get my mind off shit in the 'real' world... I don't care about what others say and I just go ski what I love to ski

I like to compete and get better, to me thats the best part of skiing...

is there somthing wrong with that?

why would someone ski if they didnt like skiing..... thats funny.... everyone skis to ski... some people just are in diffrent phases.... i think everyone goes through a phase where they have to be the best and some people just stay there..... its not a bad thing its just an opiniated phase

The thing i hate about parks is that alot of the times theres a line up of slow snowboarders waiting at the top of the jump, and half of them aren't even gonna hit the jump but they wait there anyways.

Believe me, if i had big mtn n stuff and not just reg. trails i wouldn't do park. I wish i had that. I'd get some big fat skis and just haul ass as salomon 2003 said.

ive been ski skiing always since i was like 4... fun stuff it is.

i fall a lot, and im cool

when i ski in connecticut i like to hit jumps, because that is usually the best feature. When i go to vermont though, i like to hit the park in the morning when it isn't crowded and groomed, and ski trees and everywhere else later in the day when landings get icy and it gets crowded.

i ski mostly park because the conditions at my hill suck most of the time and when i go to whistlerblackcomb i just end up in the halfpipe.

Its a fucking internet forum, of course people are going to talk all sorts of smack, but come on, how many people put forth the effort to drive to a mountain/hill every weekend, spend an assload of money on equipment just to feel cool? Unless you're clueless, no one really cares how sick your trick was 20 seconds after it was thrown or how 'sweet' you look in your (insert expensive clothing company here) shit. Im sick of these 'I ski for the fun of it' 'Im core' 'I ski park only for 15 minutes a day' arguments. I just moved to Colorado from Illinois, somedays I ski big mtn all day and sometimes I ski park ALL DAY. Case in point, dont come to the internet to get a feel for who skis for the fun or purity of it, who skis what more and for what reason and some other point I was thinking of when the tv caught my attention. This board is for fun, no ones going to be 'real' on it, I mean I could be a little grom, an industry head or JF Cusson for all you know.

well i guess big willy has it covered

i'm sorry but i didn't get what was the point of 1/2 of what you said big wily. I spend about 90% of the money i get from work on skiing equipment, skiing transportation, and by the damn lift ticket. I go out there every weekend when its open and almost every day after school, because its someting me and my friends love to do. Its the best thing we can do right now. I am not a hardcore skier, i just love to ski, and have a good time. The rest is just my dream of progressing that i can actually hold my own against the best of competitors.

now when somebody asks me if i ever decapitated a fetus, i know what to say- My lab partner after a dissection gone wrong.

eh, I meant why would you spend so much time, effort and money if you didnt really love to ski and were just doing it to feel cool.

I enfuckingtirely agree with every word you said, Big_Willy.

I know my earler post might sound to the contrary but I was haveing troubles saying what I thought, which was basically what you just said

Unfortunately I don't agree with everything Big Willy had to say. This IS an internet forum. Nothing in here can really be taken completely seriously. Readers of the forum can take what they will from it and should be able to distinguish truthful posts from bullshit ones. I don't think that serious posts should be frowned upon. I don't think that it's wrong to post a topic question that can be answered on a serious note. So like I said, take what you will from the forum...and don't feel like you can't answer questions seriously. The forum is for everyone and every type of answer.

I ski because I love it, and I want to be a part of the trendsetters and progress skiing in new ways.

If you do not take skiing seriously and/or just do it to have a good time and fun (which is great for some people) do not be dissapointed if you don't make the top.

If that's not your goal, then continue skiing - and have a good time doing it.

But if you want to progress skiing then you must have dedication and know how and when to take it seriously.

Dedication means skiing even when it's not fun.

If you've hit your head 100 times trying that trick, dedication is getting right back up and trying it again.

Eat. Sleep. Breathe. Ski.

i love to ski, end of story.

I'm going skiing, it's pretty weird

when I get to the top of the slopes

I look down on the mountain side

should I traverse cross country, snow plow or parallel

or hit a mogul, baby, and watch me slip and slide

I might even do some free ride

skiing is what i do when i have no money for weed, but still want that feeing of being high as hell.

ya i like to ski powder and mogels but who cannot go off a killer jump! i would say jibing makes my day great everytime i go skiing just skiing touches it up!
