Colorado Mountain College is probably the school that is closest to the ski slopes. It is a community college tho.

Boulder is the best for sure, but it's pricey. that's why i'm at montana state, it's pretty sick, you can ski all week.

boulder is looking pretty good about how far is it from all the mountains?and is it hard to get into the university of colorado? (thats the only college i know of in boulder) and yeah dartmouth is a bitch to get into you gotta be mad smart

I'll tell you this. I got into Boulder with a 3.1 high school GPA, the essay that's optional with the aplication, and an 1100 on the SAT's. If you got that or close, you're in.

I'll tell you where...someplace warm...a place where the beer flows like wine...where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of capastrano...I'm talkin' about a little place called Asssspennnnn...

^sick i havent taken SATs yet but im pretty much on the same page that you are ill be so amped if i get in

University of Utah - the best skiing is right there within 30 minutes and there are buses if you don't have a car

University of Reno - Mt. Rose is nearby and Lake Tahoe isn't too far away either

Communit colleges - they're everywhere. find the place you want to ski and see how close the community college is. it's good to start at a community college for the first couple of years to save money and transfer to a better place (considering that you actually study)

western is not 15 mintues from crested butte. it's like 30-35 miles.

My weiner is probably harder than yours.

university of vermont is a good one, there are a bunch of colleges in burlington also that i dont know the name of

518*crEw bitch

dude...im in the same boat..looking for colleges and stuff....worry about schooling first unless your like going to go pro with riding...in the long run schooling will help you provide your schooling needs...but...yeah its soo nice to have a slope close by...slippery rock in pa has its own mountain which is mad sick..im checking that out...i like montana also

'if it doesnt look photoshopped, its not big enough'

umass amherst has an amazing business school, amazing hospitality/tourism program and its sport management program is numeber 2 in the entire country. Plus a bach' degree from here is extremely highly valued. Mt snow-hour, local mt -40min, okemo stratton-1.15-20min, killy 1hour 45min, sunday river ( for wekend trips ) 4hours, sugarbush 2.5hours. Plus 2 all girl schools in the area and amherst colleg which has wicked solid parties. Springfield 25min away for clubbing. We have it all here plus urban rails and the people are normal not like a small hick mountain colleges where every knows everyone. Umass is all about partying and living up the true college life.

sierra nevada on the north shore of lake tahoe, I almost went there but there on a wack ass semester calender.

It's in Incline village, 10 min from northstar, 20 min from alpine meadows/squaw, 30/45 min from sierra & heavenly and hour from kirkwood.

im trying to get into U of U. like 15 mins from Alta, snowbird, park city, canyons, deer valley, brighton. id go there for PC alone

I ski at the crappiest hill ever...

Here's how to do it - first ask "is it a reputable school?". Then pick based on skiing. I think all you ECers are real wrapped up in the whole "getting into a good school" thing. The state schools out West offer most of the same things those private schools out East do, you just have to seek it out a little more actively. And you save a ton of money. By my name, you can guess where I ended up. Best decision I ever made.

colorado college, colby (ME), dartmouth(NH), pomona (CA), middlebury (VT) are all the really good academic schools near skiing, then youve got UC boulder, UVM, U UTah, st micheals (VT) etc on the next step down, i would reccomend colorado college 2 1/2 hrs from breckinridge, with smaller mtns closer by, plus you get s 4 1/2 day break every three weeks in addition to normal weekends and regular vacations, and its in a city, sort of

SKI AREA MANAGMENT!!!!!!

Gogebic Community College's Ski Area Management Program is one of the nation’s most comprehensive training programs for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the ski industry. Technical and academic study is combined with a practical internship which is conducted at major ski resorts throughout Colorado, Utah, Vermont, California and the Midwest. Students spend their freshman year and the first eight weeks of their sophomore year completing prerequisite courses. During this period, the Mt. Zion Ski Complex is utilized as a training laboratory. Mt. Zion is our college owned and operated ski area located on campus and is open to the public. The remainder of the sophomore year, students are in training at an internship site.

That was a 3.1 cumulative high school GPA. I didn't end up going to school at CU but I was admitted to their pre-journalism program (one of the best offered) and would have loved to attend if money wasn't an issue. Things are bit cheaper for me here at the University of Oregon (being an in-state resident and all).

I'll tell you where...someplace warm...a place where the beer flows like wine...where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of capastrano...I'm talkin' about a little place called Asssspennnnn...

my parents want me to go to a good school but i also want t o ski that kind of sucks cause the 2 dont really go together

Now i just kind look and say "how about that, there is a tity on my computer"

i go to cal poly pomona it is a good school espeailly for engineering. it is a hour from mt high and 1 1/2 from big bear. it is also within an hour of tons of beachs. most of all you should pick a school based on the strength of the program for your major not how close it is for skiing even though that was importanat for me.

Alcohol the cause and solution to all lifes problems.

i got into u of utah, u of british columbia, and u of colorado at boulder with a 2.8 gpa and 1110 on my sat's. i am prolly going to end up at boulder, i am almost positive thats where i am goingt o go cause my parents don't want me going so far , ubc.

its all about having money like most of the rich ski kids on this site. IF your goin out west its gonna be more $$ for plane tickets, food, shit you have to buy OUT THERE, expensive to ship shit over if you REALLY need it, and other stuff-i mean if u live out east and go west you have to say to yourself- im goin all the way out to the fuckin west and i better like it cuz if i dont im wasting a lot of godamit money....but if your rich out course that shit doesnt matter so thats prob why a lot of kids go out west. All im saying is the east has a way better amount of schools and west doesnt come out to be that much cheaper. You don't whats its like to live that far away from home for that long unless you hav REALLY experienced it. All im sayin out west isnt always the answer and you never know you could end up hating the school but forcing yourself to stay there cuz of the skiing. Going to school isnt about finding a college near skiing-if your goin to school b/c of that then dont waste your time you might as well take a couple years off and be an unrespected ski bum that prob would be able to go back to school once your take some years off. Sorry im tired and stoned im out later just my 2 cents.
