what should i get to make dope edits and also i need to get a good quality camera whats out there i need to film casue im getting good

Buy a Panasonic Pv-Gs320, a good wide angle, adobe premiere elements, a tri-pod, a bunch of miniDV tapes and a nice camera bag/backpack. You'll be set.

I've got a sony DCR-SR42 that i love for skiing and editing.... throw in sony vegas and you'd be set... just my two sense

might aswell spend less for your first setup, because it takes a while to learn and stuff, i'm not gonna lie, your first edits will be shitty, everybody elses except chuck norris' were, thats just called learning, so spending a lot of money is a waste...

try to get some mediocre camera on ebay and start leaning how to use ADOBE PREMIERE and how to film properly, and if you like it and you get better sell your stuff on here and get better stuff

naw i take this class at school for editing and filming and i have made some people always give me props. not trying to brag or anything

if you want you can go on ebay and get a canon gl2 from 500-2000 depending on everything that is included, as far as editing get adobe premiere or sony vegas (get the newest edition)

HA good luck with that man unless the camera is broken and it has none of the acceesories (battery ect.)

but if your serious about making edits u wont want to spend 1000 on a camera u should have atleast 2000 if your serious. and for starting get a gl2 or vx2000 or vx2100

and as for programing since u have a mac get final cut pro or express (express is the learning one like 200$). try and download them for free cause they are mad expensive if u dont

and judging by the edit that you have post u dont need anyhting special.

take that guys suggestion that was posted earlier that said to get a cheap camera off of ebay and learn the basics.

there is no need for u to spend a grand on stuff untill your better. alot better.

sorry if i hurt your feelings im just tryin to help you save your money

definatly, the panasonics a great starter cam to get you into filming and its got enough manual settings to be able to get some great shots. Buy that and a decent tripod and your set.

haha id think if you have/are looking into an xh-a1 you would know that b and h is really the only legit place to by photography/video equipment on the internet or just in general.

yea he's right. it's all about the creativity of the cinematographer and editor aswell as the skill to edit for impact. It's not necessarily the level of equiptment you're using.

If you have a Mac: Don't worry about buying a super nice camera right now. Get a beginner camera and a tripod. You'll be surprised at how much better a tripod will make things look, and sometimes those little cameras can create pretty good images. Before you spend any money on Final Cut or any other program, get really comfortable using iMovie. It's a great program to start with and it leads right into Final Cut. Come to think of it, I heard the new iMovie is super shitty, so if you have iLife 08 ignore what I just said. Otherwise, start there. If you're enjoying what you are doing, keep working at it and then move into nicer equipment. It's not the equipment you have, its your creativity.

If you have a PC: I really don't know what to tell you.

i should have said i need an upgarde not im not a begginer so i need better stuff like imovie is boring i want something more

Not sure how much you but for cameras online if you dont know about B&H Photo. They are in the top 3 most reliable internet camera sites and tons of people use them. The A1 has been blown away by panasonic and sony and has dropped about a grand in price in less than a year. Thats why it has been lowered.
Good site to use. Realistically dont know what your going to get for a grand. The people suggesting Gl2s and VXs is who i would quote. Decent prosumer cameras, and good cameras to start to learn on how to use a camera. That was my first real camera. I would say use iMovie to start, but dont use the newest one cuz it sucks. FCP is about 1300 bucks. Well I think express is kinda cheep, but i dont know how good it is.

And if you buy online, before you purchase from any website check, http://www.resellerratings.com.
