Skiing being copied by snowboarders..

the first one's song was in TeddyBear Crisis and the second one downright rips off Bermans Keystone shoot edit in REALTIME.

Oh my god, so music is now limited to certain sports now?

Jesus dude. They probably had no idea... we've probably copied a million songs from snowboarders...

Reusing songs, weather you know it or not, leaves the editor to one up that edit before.

that biggie remix video was totally ripping off the keystone park shoot, the shots of the lift cable, the barbecue and everything, you know for sure that they watched that park shoot before making that vid.

are you serious?... you realize how much longer snowboard movies have been around compared to us... like for example the first video you posted is celebrating 20 years of filming with 25 movies.... and when it comes to editing and budget, we as skiers are just now approaching snowboarding production companies... and as for songs go, you can't expect every producer and editor to watch every movie ever made, especially ski movies... not all of them are on NS 24/7 looking at edits and trailers

Hahahaha, wow... ski movies have ripped off SO much from snowboarding movies over the years, including music and a hell of a lot more. Pointless thread.

hahahah did anyone catch the tanker jib that was setup like a penis two ball jibs on each side of the tank hahahah

reusing songs is not really a huge deal. and even if it is, songs might be just about the only thing that snowboarding is stealing from skiing

Isn't there a similar thread about how skiing steals all its music from skateboarding. I vaguely recall something about songs in TBC being derived from an old skateboard tape. I could be completely wrong, but either way, it's not really copying, its just reusing. It would only be copying if they footy was the same or set up in the same way.

Wow you are seriously lame, if it werent for snowboarding there would be no freestyle skiing, if there were no regular skiings there would be no snowboarding. both sports help each other out and both are dope as hell. thats it thats all.

yeah not hatin cause both vids are super sick so calm down...anyway for all you people that are crying on the internet got cry to your momma, pussies..ha

who cares, honestly... skiers have been "ripping off" (using) songs that were in snowboard movies like 5 years earlier... i've seen a bunch of mac dog movies and every one has at least one song used in ski movies like teddy bear crisis and level 1 movies - its nice when someone uses an unknown song but it should be alright to use some that were used by another company... skiing has stolen a bunch of stuff from snowboarding and both, as nomensteven pointed out, have stolen from skateboarding... so just calm down and stop hating on pointless stuff

nuff said... dumbest thread ever

that jib park is fuckin ill and im sure the creator didn't have skiing or wallisch in mind... it's a well known song

honestly if everyone believes what he says is true then you are all hypocrites because the freestyle scene with rails and what not was started by snowboarders, and another thing why do you give a shit, it is just more pointless hate. they probally dont watch ski videos so how are they gonna know??????!!!!!!

yeah, except one of the editors/filmers for mack dawg stole my copy of TBC, so they do know. as for the edit, it doesn't matter, im sure the editor hasnt seen the keystone extra, it's not even in the actual movie of real time.

well the second one they probably didnt know about berman's edit because ratatat is well known among snowboarders and skiers. i think the first one was taken from tbc though. seriously though almost everbody has to have taken a song once from another video, whether its from a skate or snowboard edit.

Skiing and snowboarding feed off of each other so much. Everyone on both sides really needs to chill about who did what first. They are bound to be similar because well, they are just inherently so.

As far as I see it, they are pretty much two different outlooks on the same sport, we're all in this together so there is no need to get your panties in a knot.

yes, but ns probably wouldnt exist at least to this extent if not for snowboarders, so I think we can give them some slack. plus a lot of jump spots are ripped off of snowboard movies, as my roommate never ceases to inform me.

they copy skiers by riding groomers and using the chairlifts! what nerve those snowsliders have!
you need to get over yourself. good music is good music and it doesn't mean shit that it is used in a vid from an insignificant action sport.

im pretty sure transworld snowboard is the one that sets up the park at keystone then level 1 comes and uses it

says a snowboarder abusing a skiing website...and it's just not true as i keep stating, one of their filmers/editors stole my copy of the movie with the song, like a double dip of stealing from skiers.

do you really feel hurt because the same song is beig used for a snowboarding edit or teaser?? And what the fuck do you mean :'always copying skiiers' wake the fuck up, if it wasn't for snowboarding, you wouldn't have you fucking twin tip skis. get over it

if this thread was made by someone who had more than 27 posts, like dave..$ did a few days ago, the reaction would be TOTALLY different.

just saying.

Uhhhh.... I haven't watched the first one yet. But using a song that has been used before is only a minor offense. The only thing that rips off is the previous editor's taste in music. And for every time a snowboard video uses a song that has been in a ski movie, there are five ski movies that use songs from previous snowboard videos. So who gives a shit?

As for the park video, I'm not sure how you see it as a ripoff of any Level 1 park shoot seggy. There is a choppy little "here is the snow cat building the features" cutaway reel at the beginning. And that has been the intro to a couple L1P segments. However, was Level 1 the first film company to use cutaways of snow cats to introduce park segments? Probably not. Would Level 1 claim to be innovative for using cutaways like that? Probably not. Snow cat cutaways are pretty much standard terrain park intro content. And nobody with any legitimacy whatsoever would claim to be breaking ground by using them.

I know that you're looking for ways to publicly pledge allegiance to your favorite ski movie machine. But all I saw in that second edit was a shitty park edit with b- and c-level riding. I'm not sure that Level 1 would be too flattered by your comparison.

yea all of those post-season parks get used by different companies. msp and standard both do whistler. and everyone uses breck, mammoth, apline meadows, keystone, whoever. they build it and different film crews roll through.
