i hate it.....

When i say cool, i mean cool to the general public

i just don´t want skiing to be what snowboarding has become. Snowboarding was sick back in its undreground days......but then the general public (people who go to the mountain 10 or so times a year) took it over....it became a huge corporate commercial sell out

i am beginning to see this happenening to skiing

some of my snowboarding friends are switching over becasue skiing is getting ¨cool¨ again

i mean it is great that skiing is fiinally gettin some publlicity.....but i miss the days when i would be the only kid on twins hangin with my snowboarding friends

I don´t know if i conveyed my message here clearly but if u understand what i am saying then, do u see the ¨change¨occuring and what are ur feelings on it

i understand what you are saying but i dont know why you dont like what is happening with skiing now. i think that it is good for the sport for it to be a publicly recognized. this makes more exposure and more opportunitys for people in it

 
it depends what you mean, skiing has been the thing for a while, but people who are buying twins and dont ski alot, dont know what there doing, etc, are not bettering the sport

i know what you mean. it's nice that skiing is still sort of semi-underground, and i really fear the day when our sport becomes too commercialized like skateboarding, surfing, etc. it's unique to me when i'm one of the only skiers (that's half-decent) that's in the park among all of the boarders (some of which are good, most of which are posers...).

just because your snowboarder friends are switching to skiing doesn't mean skiing is becoming a corporate sellout... it just means that skiing actually is cool and that they want to do it... you can't always associate the quantity of ppl doing something with a popularity contest... its doesn't mean that companioes are selling out just because more ppl are doing it

I don't necessarily see this 'change' that you are talking about... just cause other people besides yourself are skiing now doesn't mean that the image of the skiing industry has changed or soldout... it is just growing

more money means mean more resorts, more expansions,more jobs, more technological advancements for equiptment and resorts, ect, ect, ect

-more companies will be able to opperate creating more jobs in the industry. this brings regular joe shmoes like us a larger variety of skis at a cheaper cost

-more videos, magazines and other media. also more industry jobs

ya skiing used to be so 'underground' and then we wanted to make the sport more popular but not in 'cool' sense.......ya i think we should make up your minds, so many people on this site me included want to push this sport and see it grow, popularize and have more companies make even better skis but people like you just want to live in the past where only a handful of skiers were on twins. kind of messed up

i hate how so many snowboarders at my mtn are switching over and askin' me to help teach to ski park before than can even make turns. I switched over from snowboard to skis but i had about half a year of just skiing before i wandered into the park.

 
its funny because skiing is now doing what the snowboarding companies were trying to do, every1 is prolly going to disagree, but more and more skiers are trying to look good fashion wise. skiing clothes has always been soo ugly cause of racing and old 40 year old men and shit, and snowboarding started making better clothes, and now ski companies are coming out with all this stylie stuff, and i know kids that go out and are all about having the hottest newest get up. i have been apart of many conversations about what new siver outfit or oakley outfit they will be getting,a nd these people aren't even girls. fuck even look at 4front, with the fake louis vutton wrist bands, and the fake burberry print skis, its great.

yeah skiing is da shit in my mind sincei started, but 2 the general public, imember in like 6th grade, u were only cool if u snowboarded, and in a ussue of powder in like 2000 they were talkin about tryin to make skiing cool again, but now its HUGE i no like 20 boarders who have changed to skiing cause they think its cooler

my point is that i apreciate the fact that now..... the only companies putting out ski movies or magazines (pbp, plehouse, level 1, axis, freeze, etc)right now have been here since the start of ¨ski´s revolution¨

the peopl that are rocking twins and and hitting the park now are the ones who do it becasue they love the sport, becasue all summer they sit and watch their ski movies waiting for the firat snowfall.........they arn´t in it for money....there are no poser magz out (that i know of) about skiing who´s sole operating goal is to make money. i don´t want a bunch of fat fuckin posers sittin in the park on twins becasue skiing is the cool thing t o do ..... i love the passion that is in our sport now.... i don´t want skiing to be tomorrow´s skateoarding

and to answer your question about boarders switching over....in the last year i do blelife more posers have switched to skiing

yea i love either skiing witha huge group of people, or by myself for a couple of runs and just recruting new people to ski with or just listening to music and really enjoying the sport

i love being one of the only skiers at my mountain at my age that are actually good. its hilarious when u get those bitchy boarders who are all like 'comeon planker, lets see some crazy shit' and you just go and own everyone.

i'd consider the general public to be the people who ask why twins have a turned up tail...not the ones going to the mountain 10 times a year, 10 times is quite alot ( not to us, but to someone who doesn't consider it a hobby)
