Skiing and school... the impossible balance..

so basically when its not ski season i usually get pretty good grades in school, a's and b's.. but now that ski season is well underway, my gpa goes down the shitter, and i only have 3 classes! my parents think its sad, but i get out of school at 11am everyday and head up the mountain to get my jump and my jib on.. anyway, i talked to my teachers today and i have 2 f's and 1 c..

i'm not really lookin for solutions, i'm just bored.. as a matter of fact i should probably be doing my homework right now but i dont really want to.. so yea anybody got any input?

nahh dude, newschoolers and school = impossible balance. im on right now and have about 2 hrs of hw left, and 3 tests in a row tomorrow

but work is work.. you dont have to study for your job, its just something thats given, and you know how to do it... school is school, you have tests, homework and all sorts of retards to destract you

no the balance is possible. im skipping tomorrow to ski. its all about time management and working hard in the spring and fall to make up for shitty performance in the winter.

dude its not really that hard..its called time management. i am sure your not the only person on this site that has the problem. i manage to ski a shit load and i have more classes then you and i make honor roll. manage your time thats all there is to it.

yea i have a 3.7 then this qaurter i got 3 ds and 1 c.

i just dont care bout school. its lame and boring

ive had much more success doing college and skiing. (not that i was spetacular at that either). if you really want to ski all the time and do well in school you just have to sacrifice your other free time. dont party, go to bed at a decent hour and try not to miss classes when you dont need to.

Most of your time in college is spent outside of the classroom making your time extremely flexible. good time managment can make skiing and college possible.

the same thing happens to me. we had a snow day but instead of catching up on work, i sat on NS all day and just dreamt of the powder(roads were too bad to actually go to the mtn)

its a poor balance. Its either good skiing and shitty grades, or good grades and shitty skiing. This is the last year I do a winter semester. Summer is a good time for school, and winter is a good time for skiing.

I have no problem, I get high 80-low 90's (I llive in Canada, no gpa), and I ski, I set up jibs on an old abandoned ski hill and I still keep my grades up, I had a job that I worked every weekday, and I went to the mountans every weekend. Just dont study, it works for me adn do Hw in vehicle.

just dont develop an achool abuse problem, adding that to my skiing addiction forced me to leave colleg in vt and come back to RI.. theres no snow here.. thats the only advice i can offer

shit man I totally understand how you feel, 1st semester, no skiing I'm an honors student with a fucking 93% average, second semester and add skiing to the equation and im pulling high 70s

yeah, it's a good thing I don't have a job. I quit mine so I could spend as much spare time as I can at the mountain!

same thing happens to me i just say the hell wiht school and go skiing , i got 5 english essays and iam havent finshed one of them , but what i have done is go skiing all most 3 or 4 days a week , all in all skiing over school any day.

i'm the exact same way, i get out at 12:30 and go in at 11, only 3 classes.. I lost my job cause of ski season, life is so good now evn though i'm broke. I ski everyday and get smoked up.

I'm sure you'll be thanking yourself when you're 40. Seriously, grow up, learn some time management and realize that if you want to make something of yourself, go to school. Otherwise you'll be stuck and a convenience store or a factory or something. You might be making alright money, but you'll hate your job. (this is in most cases, yes there are some exceptions.)

Eh, try working, going to class, and skiing. If you're dedicated, you'll take care of your shit, if you're not, you'll fall behind. Granted, I take a lighter load during the winter (only 2 classes this quarter) versus the normal work load (5 classes), but that's to make more money for more skiing adventures. And I'm always working and going to school, ski season or no ski season. I don't know what to say, ski during the day, study at night, go to class in the morning.

It's possible. Look ahead and plan your homework around the times you want to go skiing, and make sure it gets done. I ski 2-4 days a week (some night skiing) and I'm still getting a 94% GPA.

college sucks im always poor and getting to a close ski hill is so hard..if im not in class, writing papers, or trying to make some money im trying to get to a hill, but its hella tough

I want to go film in Tahoe for 3 weeks...or get a good grade. Everything Im learning right now is still review, and we're like 3 quarters into the school year now!

Filming in Tahoe > 9th grade education

my grades dropped in a couple of my classes, but you just got put the effort in... i hate dumbass school shit

i sooo know where you're comming from. but for me it was more of weed, yayo & skiing that got in the way. but you just gotta pick up your socks and get at it. its doable. (sp?)

This may be sig-worthy....for a while. Actually, no. I'm just going to point out that in that sentence you spelled a total of one word right while calling somebody else stupid (and "stupider" isn't a word).

we'll at least the snows gunna be gone in 3-4 weeks. So you'll be able to make a comeback!

i think its just growing up. im the same way, and im a junior. my parentsa re callingit maturity issues, but they cant remember for shit what its like to be this age. it kinda sucks when the expectations are to high huh

not where we live. there isnt much snow here. the hills have some and i think theyll carry into april but the snow here will peace in the middle of march

wow...at least you can get off school to head out, I gotta wait till weekends cuz I have a full course load....if skiin's ur passion screw school lol

what i dont get is if you life in a place with no night skiing when the hell do you get days in? Only on the weekends? What if you work, me dont get it?

right... I wish... I saw tree tops poking out of my favourite fun run under the lift today. the end is NEAR!!!!!!!!

yeah i got a 3.8 first quarter, and that was while i was on a sports team with practice everyday. then second quarter skiing started and i got a 3.4. and this quater is looking ugly because im in full skiing mode. hopefully 4th quarter can save me
