Skiing after broken collarbone

Hey guys

I've broken my collarbone a few weeks ago (28 december 2020) in the park hitting the ground with my shoulder. Doctor said I won't need a surgery, clean fracture and not moved.

That shit sucks really bad because me season has just started and I was ready to ski a lot this winter :(

Now its a bit more than 3 weeks ago since my accident and I have to wear that sling just for some days more... but the only thing I can think about is when I'll be back at my skis.

At first I wanted to go ski 7 weeks after that shit happened but now I postponed my ski vacations one week.

Do you think it is realistic to ski again after 8 weeks, first only powder and after around 10 weeks back in the park? Doc said it will take around 10-12 weeks but I read that most could ski again after 6-7 weeks. Can't wait for 10 weeks because my holidays are over in 9 weeks...

Any experience with this shit?

Myself and a lot of others have started skiing again within 4 or less weeks. It really depends on how it’s feeling. But know that if you fall on it it will break again. Bones can take more than a year before they are back up to strength. I fell on mine lightly after 9 months and snapped in the same spot.

OK, thank you for reply. Nearby does it make a big difference if you had a surgery or not for the healing process?

I was in a similar situation a few years back and I started skiing pretty mellow 5 weeks after I initially broke it. The way I looked at it was as long as I didn't fall it'll be fine, but do whatever you feel comfortable with.

Hey, I broke my collarbone and had surgery 2 days after, still have the screws in today. I was fine to ski probably 1 month after but not at full strength, at least 1.5-2 if you want to be safe. Also probably less if you don't have surgery. Or more. idk I'm not a doctor
