I seem ti get it everytime when I use poles...

How many other people have a issue with skiers thumb??? If I came up with a product to prevent it would anyone buy it? Is there even a product already?

or you could just put your poles one right. make sure you put your hand up through the strap and hold the grip over the strap. most people just go down through the strap and this causes skiers thumb.

this would work because it forces you to put on the pole strap correctly. it's the same thing as if you were to put on the pole straps like youre supposed to.

I used to do that but it's uncomfortable...the idea I have in mind allows your thumb to stay on the same side as your fingers while still allowing you to use your pole properly...

I've gotten skier's thumb twice in my right hand. The first time I went to this hand physical therapy doctor in Park City who made me a custom hand brace. I've seen pictures on here of the same thing before. I wore that for six weeks after each time, prevents it from moving so it can heal.
Really all you can do is let go of your poles as you fall and don't try to use your hands to break your fall. Each time I've done it I've held on to my pole, in which case it doesn't really matter how you use your strap (I don't use it, btw).

There is a pretty good solution. Go to an occupational therapist and get a custom thumb brace made while holding a pole- they're thin, so they fit under gloves and they prevent your thumbs from getting torn up. I've torn a ligament in my thumb twice and now i always ski with them on.
