Just curious how many Newschoolers out there have family that skis? For me its just my dad goes up fairly often and my brother and sister go occasionally.
My dad kind of skis. He goes pretty regularly and enjoys it but is pretty terrible. My mom went skiing because my dad skied. We tried to get her back out like 15 years ago and that was a disaster. My sister skied then snowboarded and now abandoned both. I have a brother charlie but charlie don't ski either.
Yea I've been getting my brother into it a lot more. He just doesn't have a ton of money, so he cant afford the tickets to often, and didn't get a season pass.
Yea well my dad was for sure the first person to get me into skiing. So there is definitely something to that, their passions being adopted by you as well.
Totally. All grew up at mt bachelor. Every weekend up there skiing. Some of my earliest memories are from skiing. Its played such a huge part in who i am and has greatly contributed to my "i dont give a fuck" mentality for petty shit.
100% agree. Its a bummer, this year my dad hasn't really been up as much as usual, and I always love skiing with him. Most everyone else I go with isn't super passionate about it, as they all just started snowboarding, so going up with someone who is, is always nice and missed.
Dad is a former ski bum and was a prominent racer in college, mom skis with other moms, brother is a racer, and I am "the gnar shredder" as they call me.
Yea i'm the only one who skis park in my family, though as I said above, trying to get my brother more into it. It sucks to not have someone to ski park with that will push you.
My dad used to be a die-hard skier. Not so much anymore because we live in PA but we usually go on vacation out west once a year to do some real skiing on real mountains on real rocks on real jumps
No skiers in my family besides me.. Im trying to get my 22 year old brother into skiing. He said he thinks the shit that i do in the park is pretty cool and he said maybe next year he would try it. Which is pretty cool I don't get to hang out with him a lot so i guess this is good family bonding.. Especially when he is 6 years older than me.
I'm the only one. One of my cousins is big into snowboarding but that's it for family. I really want to go skiing with my parents sometime but they aren't really into it.
my dad was a hardcore mogul ripper back in the late 70's well into the eighties ripping up every "resort" in michigan. mom didnt start skiing till she met my dad. both my sisters grew up racing, but one of them switched over and competed in pipe a ton. now coaches for PC freestyle. then theres me. i started skiing at age 3 like my sisters but never really did any racing programs.
Dad is a gaper who skis, still rides the red white and blue K2s from the early 90s. Older brother does ski and snowboard, decent at both. Mom okay skier. One sister snowboards. The other two quit everything
mom and dad used to be big skiers but havent gone in a few years brcause of various injuries, they nordic ski a lot now. one of my brothers rides, he gets almost as many days as me, then my other brother skis and goes maybe 10 times a year. all of my dads family were skiers at one point, only a few still go.
Mom, dad, both sets of grandparents used to before one set died and the other set reached 80, brother, sister, me, all my aunts, my cousins, my uncles.
Its a family affair. When we were young and used to go out west we would bring a nanny for all us kids and she could ski too.
My parents went to the alps to ski for their honeymoon.
True Dat! My wife wont go on a ski vacation either. So my son and I get to go on them by ourselves.! So far this has been a positive thing! Way cheaper to lol.
My parents met being ski instructors at my home mountain, they both shred and they are in their 50's/60's. It actually is really refreshing to go shred with them, it's a helluva testament to skiing being a lifelong love.
