Skiers you've lost RESPECT for

Honestly, with the X Games I do think the MEDIA took advantage of Gus's coming out. I hardly see him wanting to promote it that much himself, being part of this type of community and hiding it for so long. I mean come one, all these youngin's are overly PC and the media is just covering what society wants.

On the other hand, the coverage of gay Gus was overboard. They could of toned it down.

Other than that I really haven't ever lost respect for a skier. If someone is out there skiing enough to be known, then they are skiing more than me and that gets all of my respect. I definitely wish I could ski MORE!
 
Gus Kenworthy. How he used being gay to gain more supporters is really shallow. Using something like that to get more followers is terrible

This bro, this. I'm by no means a homophobe or anything like that and I respect Kenworthy as both a skier and a person. But I think this shit is getting a hell of a lot more attention than it deserves. I mean if what he's looking for is equality or whatever, then why all the fuss? I mean if the goal really was equal treatment, then why make such a big deal of it? Just my opinion.

Johnny Mosely is the shit, took a park lap at Alpine Meadows a couple of springs ago and I called him out to do a dinner roll, he said nah and told me he would follow suit with whatever I did, threw a shitty penciled 5 and he did the same but over-rotated and slammed on the landing. Johnny is legit.

couldn't agree more, Simon was a big player in the early days but its annoying to see someone idolized by the less informed ski community when he doesn't do as much for skiing.especially when there are skiers who contribute way more to the community and are not recognized.

I grew up watching Tanner but he burned out so hard after he hurt his knees. I don't just mean in skiing but as a person, it seems after he fucked his knees he became a raging loony. The decline can probably all be traced back to his infamous REAL SKIING REAL MOUNTAINS shit show but it seems like after that he totally threw away any semblance of being a role model, which he absolutely was and should have been.

LaFa is sick, they ski for all the right reasons. You'd hate them because they don't ski for you? For crowds? For fame and money?

Tanner must get a bad rap for Internet bullshit, because he's just a guy who loves skiing. He doesn't owe anyone anything for being good at it.

Johnny Mosely changed skiing, for me, forever...but I stand by my Ryan Seacrest comparison

LaFa just seems childish with their hate towards anything skiing that isn't 4xl and ganster. I remember they commented that Evan needed to work on his style before learning so many tricks, then they deleted their comment because they got called out for it. Fuck LAFA, the ganster era died out long ago and now they just look sad wannabes that never made it

Anything that isn't 4xl and gangster? When did clothing have anything to do with it? Who cares what you're wearing when you're skiing. And "the gangster era" unless you're referring to around 2008 when some of the best skiing content produced in many peoples mind, you must be younger and not appreciate that. Lastly, you don't understand that they never have cared about "making it" or being famous as you probably imagine is what ever skier wants.

Skiing has now got to a point where everyone can do essentially same tricks and sponsors need athletes who are willing to market themselves differently

Gus is doing what most skiers dont really want to do to. Years ago, your talent could give skiers a career at the top of the industry. Sadly, the way skiing is going, talent can only go so far. Its the same way in the music industry. There are insane producers that make amazing songs and the market is flooded. It comes down to how you market yourself.

That being said, I think gus is one of the best skiers on the planet, if the THE best.... he probably doesnt need to highlight his personal life..... but hey, its helping him make more money in a career that ends abruptly for almost all professional skiers. good for him

Well for people who don't care about making it or being famous they sure try pretty hard to push their products and market themselves on social media. And who cares what you wear when skiing? Well apparently LaFa does, calling out Evan even though Evan has better style than the majority of LaFa.

Whoever runs Lafa must be getting into his mid 20's now. And if you're still hating on people for what they choose to do, rather than what they say then you need to grow the fuck up. There's different areas of skiing and hating on comps is getting pretty old. What about how they hated on Gus for getting second in peoples choice award for skiing. And I can't be fucked to continue with other examples of how they hate on everyone in the ski community.

So LaFa if you're reading this, fuck you, stop being little kids and realise that there are different aspects to skiing, competing is fun, filming edits is fun, bashing gates is fun, skiing is fun. So stop hating, it's not cool anymore and it takes away from your skiing ability.
