SKIERS OF CT!

Gotta rep South Windsor, we have like 3 or 4 decent kids at my HS...and we have had 3 snow days in the last week and maybe another Friday...Hell yeah!

anyone else...another snowday? hell yea! two thus week two last week! double three day weekends in a row!

im from gbury and i would recommend checking out pool clubs in the winter- lots of picnic tables=fun stuf and there are a few with decent rails. there are usually outdoor outlets for lights n such too

vernon, ct. been known to venture out into the urban environment. what of it?

link to ct skiers cult?

1 year bump, my bad but couldnt resist. Haven't taken pictures/skied all these spots but have seen tons of good places. A few towns to check out brookfield, danbury (almost anywhere it's danbury...), redding at the highschool there is a dope rail in the back parking lot, fairfield as a lot of you know, bridgeport, and norwalk just watch out for the cops or where white pants jacket and etc.

GOD shes soo hot. i follow her on twitter ( no homo) and she puts up pics of herself and i feel like taking my pants off

yea i'm definitely going to check it out. i just graduated college so for the last 3 years i was a mt snow season pass holder. now i have to work etc so i'm going to try and do some sundown sessions on weekends.

if i was to hike sundown do i still have to buy a pass?

yea kayla maroney is so sexy

ill be home in connecticut december 18-31, kickin it and shredding mt snow a couple days, hopefully sundown at least once

Word good choice man, and I'm pretty sure you have to pay, but I'm actually not completely sure about it, I haven't heard that many stories about hiking, most people just buy a pass.

Yeah D.Brown come to sundeeezz

hello sir.

Sundown's not set up for hiking with out a ticket. It's on private property, so the state parks thing doesnt apply, liability concerns are obvious, and frankly, we work our tits off and arent really into giving it away.

That said, there's price options abound. So if the 8-hour price tag scares you off, dig around, there are other ideas...

if you want more info hit me up. We love meeting new people that enjoy tooling around in mini parks.

Enjoy

This is an old thread but, a few of us went on an urban trip two years ago all around ct and this is what we came up with. I helped George Watts film this and it is DOPE

Alright so I'm new to skiing in the area. I live in Bridgeport and I'm trying to figure out where to go. I'm not big on jumps; rails and jibs are more my thing. Also, I'm looking for a place that has other decent skiing as well. SOOOOOOOOOOOO............... Wachusett, Sundown, or other, and why?

I'm gonna go ahead and say sundown, check the thread out !

https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/709319/

You have until the 12th then the season pass is 100$ more. So hop on it!

Haha fuckin' Southington. I don't want to talk trash about southington because I know I'll get bashed for doing so, just trust me on this one and get the sundown season pass! The park guys kill it with 2 terrain parks and are always changing it up, while adding more and more features as the year goes on, which is why gaper day is the fucking shit!

Idk if I can shell out for a season pass, I don't have that dough, but the midweek 12 day seems like a better deal than the savings card.

Damn that sucks man, the season pass pays for itself if you go like 9 or 10 times or something like that.

The simple answer is, Sundown is larger, and generally opens earlier and closes later. Our snowmakers and operations crew is crazy...they always push to try and be 100% open first in the area and they make as much snow as possible as fast as possible (we can be over 50% open in 72 hours of cold). This is mostly due to the fact that Sundown is further north and gets better snowmaking temps, Southington has always struggled with that. I'm not going to comment on the park...I very bias in that regards cause I put a lot of time and energy into Sundown's park.

i do enjoy me some southington. the park is smaller, but there's really nobody "good" there. you'll feel like a pro. they sometimes have a fun 2-jump line, like 2 boxes, 1 rail. it's fun. small, but fun. sundown is enjoyable but because there are so many thug "crews," you may find yourself thinking that there may be a fair share of douchenozzles over there. try them both perhaps. for what it's worth, butternut is the SHIT and the season pass price takes fat shits on both sundown and suth

It is true that there are a ton of good kids at sundown. Which is why It sucks for me haha, I switched to skiing last year after snowboarding for a long time. I don't feel like trying shit because there are so many people doing 10 switch-up 810 outs everywhere I look.... Sundown still has a siiiick vibe to it though, lapping Toms Treat for the win.

Don't let them scare you. Approach almost ANY kid skiing at sundown and they're willing to ski with you. And since there's a good number of kids who are really good, they can help you get better. Just cause they look "thug" doesn't mean they're "douchenozzles", I've skied with probably every single local at sundown more than a couple of times, and they're always just looking to have a good time. Make some new friends, and learn some new tricks.

yea my problem with sundown is that I BLOW at rails. I mean I can do a rail, no spin on or off and sometimes I slide off early. I feel like the kids at sundown are dope at rails and i feel self conscious. I'm more of a jump guy anyway. i used to go to mt snow all the time because i prefer my 360 and 540s off solid 30 footers, thats my game. when i go to sundown i look stupid and my game is off with the little jumps.

i still like sundown, it's just that i feel out of place the few times i've been there. but it looks like thats my new home this winter so i better buck up and stop being a pussy and learn some spinning on/off

My best advice is to ski with people who are better than you. They'll push you to do better and they can help you with what you're trying to do since they already went through the learning phase. I ski way better when I ski with Harwood or Lupe cause I try and keep up with them and I can ask them to explain something.

Rail skiing isn't that complicated, there's like 10 base tricks, then it's just linking together or doing variations of them from there. The key is to focus on the end of the rail and use your edges to grip and put pressure on the rail to engage spins.

no way brother, i grew up in southbury.

i use to build kickers at platt farm off of floodbridge road. i highly recommend it whenever the snow sticks.

growin up in southbury right now, sophomore at pomperaug and always look at platt as a great place to ski just havent gotten the chance to

when the snow sticks, it's grand.

super fun little kicker session for an afternoon or a snowday. i progressed a lot hiking it over and over again, haha.

the hill section right next to the welcome sign is perfect, no need to hike any higher.

hope you get a chance to start feelin it!

Any body want to ski with somebody that sucks? No, seriously I do. Started skiing last year and cant get enough of it. Trying to get into park more coming from skateboarding and all that shit growing up. From Milford and try to get my 33 year old ass out as much as possible. Went to Sundown by myself all the time last year at night just trying to progress. I'm sure I saw many of you there and some kids were just killing it. Good times for sure but this year I need to link up with some of ya'll and actually try some of that shit. Holla if ya down.

hey man I'm not that good either. I live in trumbull and I would be down to go up a couple of times. I like night skiing, i'm a lot better with a few beers in me.

the kids at sundown slay and i look... average at best.

yo man i bought it from you the past 3 years. i'm out of college now and I don't want to pay the full price -$1000...

is there anything you can do to help me? i'll be taking 9 credits this winter, I know thats not enough but is there something you can do or suggest that will save me som skrila

For sure. I only get to Sundown at night during the week. Usually on Wednesday. Who else from southern CT down for Sundown?

I'm in Bridgeport, and I'll hopefully be going to sundown 3-4 nights a week. Keep in mind btw that I wont be here during winter break. Hit me up on facebook, fb.com/jibgilmon. My number's on there too.
