Skiers in qc

Im probably gonna get hated on but oh well here's my little rant

Being from quebec n going to a good amount of events in the last few years has really changed my opinions on the scene over here. I just really feel like the majority (not all!) of the skiers i meet, especially in comps, are really bad tempered, cocky little xxl wearing bitches. At so many events all i hear is complaining about everything possible, set up, weather, judges, tricks. Even at the parties i find the disrespect level pretty high. I god do i hate when theres a lot people in the park n the more experienced people are giving a hard times to the learners n just trying to show off with their ''crew''. I just feel like one part of the freeskier image is not as good as it use to be.

Sorry to hate, but it i was talking about this with my buddy n it kinda sadden me. Maybe its just like this in qc or maybe im just getting old and responsible

anyway

its not that way at all here in Minnesota, every body here is so chill, we do complain alot bout the set up but we dont really hate on one another because one of us is better than the other, alot of the time the better skiers help out the not as good skiers,

sad to hear that..

specially when it;s all about the fun... it's not they;re deciding about economy.. c'mon guys. have fun skiing that's why o go to the mountain every time i can...

Maybe not in the north Quebec area, people in general are nice. I know the Montreal area is horrible for posers and assholes. I like Ontario, I ski in the Blue mountain area and the people there are really nice. I have been out west and we see some asshole, but some (older) skiers are super friendly.

i know what you mean. all the kids who are like 4bi9 are like that kind of. you look at the real pro's like dumont, hatveit, thovex, and schiller, none of them are like that: gngster and stuff.

but the amateur pros like wallisch, brogan, hornbeck, and them ARE like that. i honestly think its not that cool

sucks to hear that the are not nice kids and stuff. a lot of the edits i see from quebec are so sick and have really good style. there is a crop of kids that ski really good hand rails and do progressive tricks everywhere and film them for smaller production movie companies. i think guys like phil casabon probably has the best style out of the people in quebec and it's cool to see him and cedric and a couple of the other quebec guys slay park.

plus, quebec is like a colder more icy version of the east coast. i ski all over vt and stuff and it gets really cold, so i cant even imagine how cold it must be up north. i don't know about you guys but i dont ski very well when it is negative temperatures and windy.

yeah I see what youre trying to say.

I ride at a tiny montain called Mont Gleason and everyone say hello to everyone even if we dont know them but when I go shred at other montains, everybody is with their own crew and don't talk to somebody else than their friends, even not a little Hey or something.

sorry for the shitty spelling

Yep, I get your point too, but don't generalize, I know some very chill people who compete and shit.

i agree theres definatly some fuckin selfcentered dicks in quebec who think there the shit and are cunts to everyone else, but then again theres some nice guys ive met too

yeah what you say is really sad but true. people are being dick with their crew thinking they are the king of the mountain (Park) and such. they think they are G because they wear xxl stuff. anyway it gettin anoying. it really not like it used to be when it started where everyone was having fun and talking with each other , hiking rail etc...

Some kids are nice some arent it's the same thing in life out of the hill.

It should all be about having fun and helping everybody to get better but thing is that just like in life-school-job, most people think about themselves and are not open to other peoples way of thinking.

lol im sorry but dumont is a little too gangsta. at least he thinks he is. but yah its tru there is a lot of hate in quebec. but thats tru with any competitions.... there are just people who take themeselves way to seriously. complainers are everywhere though i ski in vermont all the time and there is still complaining but thats probably because the smuggs quality IS crap. we got to step it up though in QC. honestly mt. bruno isnt that bad, sutton is pretty bad, bromont horrible..... we got some work to do

well i went to quebec over winter break to a little area name Lac Beauport and skied le relais and everybody was sooo kind to me...pretty dope actually...and everybody gets pissed off and maybe it was just one of those days

yeahh dude i get where youre coming from. i find especially in the laurentians it gets pretty bad/...

join the club dude, your just noticing this now? its been shitty like this for the last 3 years, the more popular skiing gets the more fags there will be skiing. It's not just in quebec either btw its like that everywhere maybe even worse out west.

ok so Ace you're hating on people hating ??

man your the kind of guy who talk about stereotype( gangsta style, what ever)

but I can tell you something, im been skiing since a lot of year, and wearing hip hop clothing and chilling with my crew on hill? whats wrong with this? I can be the nicest guy out there to talk with.

Ask Cedric... I love his emo/rock style and he loves my style too... but the question isnt about style, it's about personnality.YES I KNOW, theres a lot of asshole poser skier, but it will always be like that. In each sport, in each moment of life, in each job.

Next time you'll see someone that you think he/she is a poser, go and ride with him/her.. may be its gonna be your next best friend.

PEACE

true dat man, i dress gangster too, only on the hill. i have friends that dress emo-ish as well. It's not the style that matters at all, i actually find that the emo skiers are bigger assholes/posers than anyone that dresses gangster

ummm i really wasnt judging anyone on their style, but more on the way they act. Ive seen people with tight pants that were just as ganster n unpleasant as people wearing xxl (ive also seen very nice people with jeans n xxl) but just the general attitude around the sport doesnt seem to be just what it was before...

I don't know what contests you go to, but I've been to every major competitions in the last 4 years (Telus Spin, Coté Obscur, Young Gun Open, name 'em) and I think the attitude is pretty good in general. I don't know what "crews" you're talking about, but being from Quebec, my "crew" and I talk (and are good friends) with the people from Montreal and the other regions.

People hate on setups/judging everywhere, and unfortunately it's part of the sport. You can't satisfy everyone.

ya i agree with your statement, all the skiiers in qc have their crews and hate on anyone whos not in their crew or is a bad skiier. and alot of the resorts now get packed with rediculous amounts of skiiers and it is discouraging for new skiiers.

yeah i gotta agree about the negative vibes in qc parks.  i think its an age thing tho, the crew is see at avila seem to be composed of pretty young kids. goin south to vermont is such a more chillin experience, and the scene just seems way more mature and friendly

Just cuz they wear baggy clothes sdoesnt mean theyre cocky assholes brogan's dope and gives props if youre simply slidin a box a throwin a cork 7

dude you cant judge someones personality or atitude by the way they dress. all the guys you metioned that are the young guns are not assholes. and 4bi9 is not a grp of assholes... its sorta ironic how you say that ppl like dumont, thovex and wtv arnt gangster and stuff because there the ones who changed skiing and shaped it into what it is today.. there the real og's

SKIERS IN QC ARE COOL, IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT JEAN PHILLIPE WHO ROCKS THE TEAL OAKLEY JACKET. OTHERWISE, THEY ARE ALL POMPOUS FUCKS! FOR REAL, THEY ARE MAD SQUARES, BUT AT LEAST I CLAIM THEIR FEMALES! BOOYAHHHH YOU FRENCH MOTHERFUCKERS! (except ced, hes neat)

Dude, lots of skiers dress and act gangster-ish because maybe its kinda fun? And i've skied at the same mountain as brogan wallisch stepp wallisch etc. (not supposed to be a claim) and none of them are assholes they're just out HAVING A GOOD TIME.

Honestly, I know exactly what you're talking about. The little poser crews are a joke at Avila, they are so disrespectful and lower our sport a notch....at Tremblant it's not so bad but I find the poser and hater attitude is out of control at Avila. It pisses me off every time I'm there.

Why can't everyone just have fun skiing and stop pretending like they just got out of prison????

ill tell you why these newb posers dress like that, its just cause they see really good people that look like that so they try and make their style like theirs... pretty much everyone i ski with at whis dresses semi gangster and because of this all the new kids try and copy. its pretty simple.. like if you were new at a sport you would try and look like the good people, they get the wrong idea though, they think cause the good people dress gangster they have to act like total douchebags.

I don't even think it's just the gangsta looking kids...hell at my hill kids wouldn't even throw up the solid when I would try to give it to them whether they dialed a trick or were just in line with no poles...it was weak...

I find the worst is the size up...no matter where you roll on the hill everyone sizes you up and peeps your shit...and if you don't have have all new stuff they heckle you and shit. Then they gather round and watch to see if you are any good, and get bitchy if you throw down harder then they can...it's super lame.

People just need to remember why we are doing what we do, sliding down the hill, having fun...whether it's 1 board or 2 or a caf tray...

To find alot of the nice people, I think you have to go to where skiers appreciate everything they get. For example Pano, our snow is shit, our park sucks, everybody's gapers, but we have fun, and we're friendly.

ya i agree but also skiing is also about holding your own and since it's not a team sport things can get you down very easily but what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger. i'm from montreal and ya there is hate and tons of assholes but the few friends i ski with make my days worth the while. overlook the bullshit and ski for yourself and along the way you'll meet some dope people

Yes and no. To be honest I don't even remember what this thread is about, but i'm from QC and ski Avila.. Plus i'm half french. I know some kids who fit the description of what you hate but a lot of us aren't at all like that.

I hope this touches base on the subject..

I'm going to have to agree and disagree. Yes Avila is packed with the crews/individuals who think they're the shit, cut you in line and do everything that isn't exactly the most friendly. Although if you take me for example, who spends 2-3/7 days a week there, I would be more then happy to take a chairlift ride up with you and have a good old chat. But I guess you could say that I am one of the few odd ones..

if someone ever cuts me off i chase after them, usually they get scared cause people dont usually do this, so they'll think your a fuckin psycho and say sorry and try and be your friend.. they'll never do it again, you should try. dont do this if your a pinner bitch though, or you will get your ass kicked.
