anyone knows how much are paid the top skiers by their sponsors. If you know bout that just name em. Maybe people want to know about it.

hmmm i think in all the other threads about this a lot of people posted liekt he top three most paid skiers and well i think they came up with like

jon olsson obviously drives a lambo

tanner hall one of the worlds best skiers

and candide thovex with his own invitational and such.

There was an article about this in Skiing Magazine. Jon is the top paid Freeskier. HE gets 200k a year. They really dont make that much.......

a friend of mine told alexis godbout was making 1 mil but if u say jon olsson is making 200k then i dont think thats possible

woa format error^

yea Jon drives a lambo but thats cuz hes got lindeberg and oakley and red bull. but yea around 200-500,000 dollaz

I bet what it ment was like 200k from skiing. Then when you tack on sponsers and their own companies they make so much more.

jon cant only make 200k a year considering all the contests he wins and shit like that. plus what he gets for filming with msp annnnnnnd he must make tons from head and his other sponsers

um, no.  rory doesnt even ski anymore cause he is too busy drinking all the time, and if he does ski, he drinks while doing that...

nahh man. Godbout is sick. He's not the best rookie out there but he's definitaly got the skills and the determination to go big.

What about JP and Tanner, they must make a lot. Don't they co-own Armada together or something? I know Tanner makes quite a bit just from the Freeskier's Cribs with him in it.

you can easily afford a lambo on a 200k a year salary, keep in mind your not dropping 200k on it at once, your paying it off over a few years

i heard Candide signed a 3 year contract with rossi for 900,000 so thats 300k a year alone from rossi then like another 300k from everything else

Not really. If he lives his life outside of his car at all then he's makin more then 200ks a year.  Thats not that much. Insurance for his lambo is probably pushin 20 grand a year and payments are probably that or more.

I think even though Tanner is better known that Dumont (barely), Simon competes more now thus getting him more money. Jon is a superstar in europe, he takes the cake. I've heard 600K, and 200K sounds way to low. Candine is probably in second, because he is a god in France/ kinda europe. There is so much talent in this industry that is way underpayed. Too much talent for such a small industry :(

you guys are off on the lambo argument.  200k a year puts you right around 16k a month before taxes.  A normal loan with a 60 month pay off at a relatively normal rate puts a 200k gallardo at about 2300 per month.  More than affordable. Jon lives a great lifestyle, and one that could be very well accomodated on 200k a year, although Im not convinced that is an accurate number...

in some article on Jon it says how he made over a million in a year

and if i'm correct the top paid skiier

200k may be his salary from sponsors but he has contest money and investments and such

he's rich cause he handles his business

do work

The fact that Jon lives in Monacco confirms he makes a whole lot of cash. Remember that most of your big sponsors will repay entirely the cash you win in a comp. When he was with J.Lindeberg, Head, Oakley and Red Bull, imagine the money he made when he won a competition. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think winning the USFO Slope pays 7000$ US. Take that, plus 7000$ from the 4 sponsors I named earlier, that totals 35 000$ just for winning the Open. Salary isn't the only revenue for a skier. Incentives also pay you some money.

Well if you think about it, they get a lot of stuff for free. A lot of their clothes are from their sponsors, and many do not live in a house, but live out of a suitcase all year, like Colby James West. He still lives at his parent's house, but is barely ever there because he is touring all over the place skiing wherever there is snow. Many of these skiers share houses, like I heard Abma, Michelle Parker, and a few other people have one house up by Whistler and they save money that way, and that's how they are "livin the life". Also, I would imagine that their sponsors cover them for wherever they ski, but I'm not quite sure how that works.

skiers live of extremely high income for an extremely short time. and they are all really bad investors; hence trips to the playboy mansion and lambos.

If you read the article about him you'd have known that he bought it in cash. and recently repainted it snow camo... so baller.

tanner gets paid 150,000 from redbull a year, 150,000 from oakley, and 150,000 from armada, then park city pays him like 30,000 just for skiing there. so i guessing most pros make around 100,000 to a 750,000 a year.

u all konw that if u make 100k a year and your in any profession you're making pretty damn good money. Being single w/ no kids and having most of ur shit paid for through sponsors and making 100k a year makes u pretty fuckin wealthy. There are less than 15 skiers making over 100k a year, and the ones that do own a business, are involved in another part of skiing, or are huge like jon, tanner, candide

mike douglas

jon

candide

tanner

jp

dumont

other than those 6 i can't think of anyone who consistently makes close or more than 100k a year including all sponsors and contests, videos, all that sutff.

its not hard to own a 60,000 car/truck making 100k a year if u really like cars. U just cant go to starbucks and go out to eat every meal.

McConkey, Morrison, there are some other guys out there. Kreitler used to make alot. CR....there are some other guys. Guerlain Chicherit makes 300,000 or something like that.

Buying a 200,000 car if you are making 200,000 a year is pretty stupid. Yes, you are making payments, but to put that much money into a depreciating asset you really have to have some cash. Jon is probably making some very good money.

a lot of guys who are ski bums who get a few clips in a few movies a year but arent super well known pros actually make next to nothing. they get a lot of what they need for free (skis, lodging) but otherwise arent at all loaded. a lot of them are fucked when they get to be too old to ski that hard and end up getting real jobs.

Hes right i was reading that artcle today in school cause i was bored as hell. Jon is on top getting the most paid, dumont in second as most paid free skier. when they are spnsered they live off , (dumont)sponsership of clothes, ski gear goggles monster and target. hes right they dont get paid theat much

olenick makes prob around 180,000$. jon, dumont, tanner, mike d, and candide are all making well over 600,000 a year. there are prob 25 skiers making over 100,000 a year. when u think about it tho 5 years ago almost every newschool skier was working a second job and only one or two were making 6 digit numbers so if the pay continues at the rate its going 10 years from now 10 or 11 skiers will be making in the millions

man there's no way it's that little, that story on NS that was published like yesterday showed him buying a Lamborghini. that's practically 1 years salary or more so i don't believe he makes less than at least like 350,000

that is a good point, but i don't know i just think that being one of the top names for red bull/oakley previously/JL/Head would net you more than that. And having your own event with your name, seems like you'd be making a pretty big amount

this is all so speculative..people claiming jon earns anywhere between $100,000 and $1,000,000

Either way his prizemoney, sponsors, endorsements are worth a lot - he is innovative with his PR and has a great name in the industry so i'm sure companies like Cross would pay a LOT of money to secure Jon for a 6 year contract

maybe jon is just from a rich family.. i always wondered that too cause i know hes got tons of cars and likes to race them and stuff.. and ya, i mean even the best skiers cant be paid THAT much.. 200k is really not that much.

yes but no matter how much money they make they get to do what they love more than anything in the world for like ten years and that is why they do it and they realize that in a few years when they are the old fuys hey are going to turn into the weekend skiers with crappy jobs but they did what they loved more than anything and that is to ski

yeah but they got the life

and they're still making over 100,000 which is enough to be very wealthy as it is..keep in mind they also can ski anywhere they want, anytime they want, dont ever pay for equipment, and there doing what they LOVE.

every pro skier whether or not they have won any bronze/gold/silver medals are living the liiiiiiife

i think people need to look past the fact than jon drives a lambo. lots of people drive lambos. he lives in monaco. not a lot of people live in monaco. you do NOT live in monaco on 200 grand a year. it doesn't happen.

Jon comes from a typical Swedish middle class home. So one thing is certain, they did not pay for his Lambo.

It is correct that we have very high income taxes in Sweden. That is why Jon chose to live Monaco. In Monaco you pay close to nothing i taxes which makes it an ideal place for athletes who make a lot of money for a short period of their lives. Lots of athletes live there because of that.

ya i was gonna say that, i get the sense that his family has money to begin with. if you think about it a lot of pros or ams must come from money, a lot of them come out of private schools and have houses in colorado, etc. and can afford to travel and ski even before they are really sponsored. I mean it is an expensive sport that attracts a certain demographic of people
