Skiers average salary???

It's a well known fact that most amateur athletes live around the poverty line. Sponsorships pay for equipement and sometimes a lucky bonus like air flights. Government support is their main source of income. In freestyle skiing, whether you like it or not, there is no professional league where people are signing 5 million dollar contracts every year. The most famous skiers who score themselves TV adds and other promotions score themselves a bit of extra money in the process but they are by no means rich. Skiing is about skiing - not the money. If you make enough to live and continue competing, you should be happy with life the way it is. I know i would be...

All the energy trinks here in finland tastes the same. Redbull, battery all the same just different botle. I make 10€ a week and Im not pro =)

yeah exactly, whoever said, they pay for nothing, is absolutely right...(well not counting some personal things)...and if you pay for nothing, and you're winning everything, it's gonna add up sooner than later...

Payment for 'pro skiers' is totally all across the board. Hell, technically I'm a pro skier because I got a ten dollar check once for second place in a big air. But yeah... guys like Tanner, Candide, and Jon pull in a lot off of comp purses and their advertisements... I've heard that both Salomon and Oakley pay a pretty penny to their top athletes. But for the vast majority of riders, being a pro skier means getting equipment for free, sometimes getting travel expenses for free, and living off of what you make in competitions or get on the side from an advertisement here and there. I may be wrong, but I doubt that guys like Steele Spence, Rory Will, or Scott Hibbert actually get cold hard cash in a contract from their sponsors.

replying to the idiot who said proskiers make around 10k-15k a year that is fucking retarded I mean you do the math someone working at Mcdonalds makes 20k a year and the ski Patrol at my mountain make more than 15k a year I'm pretty sure people that have Tons of Big Sponsors like Salomon Oakley Spyder exct. Can afford to pay one of their top athletes more than 100 dollars a week think about who much they spend in advertising.
