Skiers attitudes...?

Yesterday was my second day of the ski season for me, i live on the east coast, no snow near me and can't drive. So this is my first year in the park basically--I am learning tricks and stuff. Last year I didn't take it seriously, i did moguls, woods, and the backcountry of the east. Anyways my friend knows a ton of kids there who have been skiing for years, I am 14 and been skiing since i was 10, I am probably better than my friend and some of his, and since it was my first day learning to do rails and stuff they all have an attitude that they are better than me. But really only my friend. I am new to ns so i have no idea if this is a "gay" thread or if its in the right place. I just wanted to know if anyone else had this happen to them.

I told them to stop so it doesn't happen anymore 'cause now they see that I am fairly good :p

by the way i am progressing really well, i can 360/540 and do some rail tricks and boxes. I don't consider myself good, but good for someone who has never had experience on jumps or rails (not lying).

Keep it up bro! those guys sound like dooshers put a small set up in ur backyard get legit as fuck and show em up! Everyone of them was in ur shoes once so don't let em get to u

Sounds like some Middleschool bullshit...Just keep working at it and maybe try and ride with people that will help you not just talk shit.

Being "The best skier" to me is the person that has the most fun, and makes everyone around them have fun. If you can throw dub corks and put people down while in the park...you suck at skiing.

i lol'd

yea but seriously. i think at one time or another youll have that problem... i can spin 5's and can do a ton of rail tricks and i still get hated on by the kids that can 9 and do mad pretzels. just have fun is my bottom line.

Well here is the part where you win. You say you ride moguls, back bowls and other all/big mountain terrain? bring those kids to that environment and im sure you could give them shit for not dropping a cliff or doing moguls properly. every one has their style and even though those kids might be better at "nibbling at a rail" than you. Im sure you can shred harder and more gnarly than those kids wish they ever will. Think about the positives :)

BTW All mountain/ Big mountain is more fun than a rail will ever be, so dont stress. They are jealous they are not as good as you. Do as I do, embrace the hate and make it to better yourself.

exactly man, i ski at my own level, i just ignore their ignoarant comments haha. I have been skiing woods and trails and shit for the past 3 or 4 seasons and it was the most fun i have ever had, now i feel like i need to get good, but i don't really care, im not looking to go pro, i just wanna learn some decent tricks and still have fun

i think its true, cause powder mag had a letter what was written by a random girl, who said, that young skiiers are bullys while waiting the snowlifts..

sorry for second post in a row, dont know if its a problem here, but it is on lacrosse forums haha. Anyways im 14 and a freshman in highschool, but yea i jsut thought i would bring it up, cause it bothered me for like an hour until i learned a 270 off then i got some respect haha

Nah man i'm a both, but it really just depends who you are around. The area i was in was a bump in the terrain, basically one trail with rails and a 15 foot jump set up, and everyone there was either a group of posers or just really good and nice skiers who helped me out a lot.

Most of my friends have skied at pretty much every point in my life. Only time I was around a big group of boarders regularly was the kids at the mountain I worked at the last few years.

Most kids are pretty friendly in the parks these days. There are always some douche bags but I think that most people are pretty chill. Doesn't seem hard to start a friendly convo with any random person in the park.

Also pretty much every crew has a mix of skiers and riders.

Ya you're right, its just those select few kids who are full of them selves. Well this is a local hill where my friend knows almost everyone, and they were mainly all good riders, and there were like 3-5 who were complete assholes to anyone not just me.

Don't say gay thread, it's not the 90's any moreand duh aren't you in middle school/high school of course kids are going to act like that

yeah i got hated last year so bad, even though these guys could only do 3s and 5s and they cudnt even hit urban rails or do any rail tricks, so when i went outwest i progressed alot, came back to my mountain showed em up on the rails and then did a couple 5s. now i got respect from em and were all chill, everybody gets hated on at one point, it just motivates you to get better

I jsut said that incase someone would come along and say "wow this is so gay nobody cares"

and yea i am in highschool, but like i said, i only did this to see if it happened to anyone else. DOn't wanna instigate a pity party for myself for getting confidence, i just kinda ignored them :p
