Skiers are not Athletes

It pisses me off when people say that skiers aren't athletes!

what do you do outside of skiing/forecast watching/newschoolers

background for me:

I used to skate (skateboard, inline and snakeboard [first brit to hit a vert on a snakeboard]), swim at national level, I was the national champion (UK) triple jumper, cross country running, rugby union @1st 15, cricket @ 1st 11 etc etc. grew up as an athlete.

Now I ride a road bike, run, play squash, play hockey (UK style), trampoline (admittedly like a mug; but I like to practice being in control of any sort of flip in case it aids performance on the snow [in b4 haters hating], I work on core strength at the gym and slackline... basically I do anything that helps my fitness or anything which I think might improve my coordination in the air as a skier.

what do you do for extra curriular (skiing) activity? ESP what gets you through the off-season for fitness?

mostly do CrossFit, random cardio workouts, skateboarding and obviously skiing. I bet these same people would consider ski racers athletes...

i hate when people consider me an athelete because i ski, i usually just chill and hit mellow stuff and basically work on whatever i feel like at the time, its very unstructured.

skiers are athletes, but as both a football and lacrosse player as well as a skier, i dont think that skiing is a super athletic sport.

i dunnoe, honestly i really dont, just kinda wanted to get my point across :/. i like to ski, the only think i really want to be called is a skier

well largely we are a pompous, ugly, stuck-up but strangely push-over nation of drunken, fighting jizz-tards so whatever your comprehension of 'jesus' may be, I guess that is complimentary to whatever UK comparison you might judge me by.

thin or no, I thank you....

I like to consider myself the John Daly of skiing, so basically, drink loads of beer, rock the no shirt keg physique down the slopes and generally give 0 fucks.

tanner will tell you how it is. working out, being fit, and enjoying other sports is all good. but we gotta get out of this jock mentality. get some style and be different

maybe if you had ever skied outside of the park in your life before and hiked a distance further than your car to the chairlift youd think differently
