Skier X, How do you qualify to compete?

Im curious... whats involved in qualifying for Skier X.

Besides nerves of steel.

Do they have qualifier runs throughout the year like other events.

Or do you just sign all the waivers and hope for the best... so any noob could compete.

i have always wanted to do skier cross, its racing and (freestlye) put together, what could be better

dont hate

You had to be invited to X-games, but check www.jeepsports.com for the jeep king of the mountain tour, its what I compete in.

I was lucky enough to compete in skier-x many years ago at winter-x. The quals where all done through the lord of the boards series (an old uncle-E joint) and espn-sponsored one mountain events held across the country.

The first few years where mostly cross over big-mountain and freestylers - but once the money got large then all the huge x-racers from europe came over and killed it. Standing next to a 230-lb swede and some HGH'd x-us b-teamer with nothing to lose was fucking scary and sketch ball.

The biggest problem was that we ran a snowboarder course and the jumps were WAY too small. Everyone overshot every feature, going three strong over a jump taking it to the flats at 50mph was dangerous.

I got out of it in 2000 when I realized I sucked compared to the nut jobs with wax pros and 50lbs more muscle than me.

There are still local quals every year - I know sugar bowl has an x-games qualifier every season - good luck against Rahlves and the Hudson brothers there -

i've done a couple of skier-x races in my life and i think im going to start taking more of an interest in it now that it's not the big clusterfuck that it used to be. got 3 or 4 races to do this year and some training, might try for an x-games qualifier next year depending on how i do this year.

Well unless you have raced world cup or at the very least NoAm downhills good luck beating any of those guys. Not exactly a sport you can just get into if you havent had any seriose race training (like years of race training) Errol Kerr who is the youngest guy in the skier cross still competes in high ranked racing events and skiercross and trains gates all summer. Skier cross isn't half racing half freestlyle its 3/4 racing and 1/4 experience, these guys hit big jumps in normal downhill races so they don't exactly need park experience

i think it would be sick to do that but have smaller jumps so you dont have to BOMB and actually hit the whole think like a jump course with burms and shit. thad be so fun
