Skier to Boarder ratio

Is the skier to boarder ratio better on the east coast or the west coast? In my opinion I think more people ski out west add your thoughts........
 
i feel belittled at times by how many snowboarders there are on the EC. i dont mind it when the boarders are good, but when you see a kid wearin a camo outfit "attempting" to slide a rail it just gets me goin. just an ongoin stereo type in small non ski towns that boarding is cool and skiing is lame

the west coast is full of snowboard bros but i have to admit alot of kids are switching over its kinda lame cus most of them are a bunch of queers and wanna bes who want to prove them self to girls in the park cus they finaly see how steezy i make skiing look so they all model me and get the same skis and equitment as me. but thats another story... lol jk but really we got tons of boarders but at certain resorts thers quit a bit of skiers
 
well whrer i ski it is a small hill not some big resort but i would say it is like 40 %sking and like 60% snowboarding or osmething like that its not that big of diff

but alot of the snowboarders and possers but there are some good ones
 
its like 90% boarders in the mt. shasta park, but like 60% outside of the park.

Tahoe is very resort dependent, skiers and boarders favor different resorts.
 
On the east coast there are definitely more boarders in the parks then there are skiers. When I go out west I am always surprised when I got out west and theres more than one other kid that skis park. Here in the west theres usually one other kid and a buttload of crappy snowboarders but its fun to show them up when you are a skier.
 
In my lovely home mountain, mountain creek NJ, there are about 15 snowboarders - 1 skier

when i went skiing in vail it was about 4 skiers - 1 snowboarder

Here in Alaska, I'd say it's about 45% skiers, 35% boarders, and 20% telemarkers. I think that the popularity of backcountry skiing here makes skiing and especially telemarking easier choices since skiers and telemarkers can skin up.
 
you wanna see a park scene that has almost no snowboarders go to mount snow. I would say like 80% of the park locals are skiers (and i mean snowboarders who know what they are doing, i don't even distinguish if you suck you are a joey no matter what you got strapped to your feet)
 
damn right man, mount snow has the best park in the east (when theres snow) and killy's is pretty good, not to mention sunday river. If you ski a lot of park then it is a good deal, if youre lookin for mad woods go to jay or stowe (that's not to say there arent good woods at the asc resorts but its not their speciality)
 
Yeah I go to Snow about 3 times a year and Okemo and Killy I deffenitely like Snow's park the best but I couldnt afford the pass this year but I get discounts on lift tickets about 35 for a day pass through a ski club im in but im getten it next year me and my buddy will probably go up on weekends
 
yep, at my local shitty hill, boarding is what all the "cool kids do". Like, i throw a nice 5 off this jump, and a boarder will go eat shit on a striaght air and come up to me and say, " why do u ski?"

all the boarders blow, the few skiers at my hill own the boarders.
 
well im gonna say like 5:3 at my mountain this year but that is very new, a couple of years ago it was atleast 20:1

i only counted for park i dont pay attention to skiers that dont have twins
 
usually in the manning park, if there's someone there, there's a 1:0 or 0:1 ratio, because nobody uses it (although it is a sweet ass park).
 
Well, at Baker, the pretty much starter of all snowboarding, theres a shit load of snowboarders, but theres a bunch of core skiers up there too, and we all get along...
 
yeah, but the washington scene has mixed snowboarder skier groups, everyone kinda rolls together, so it's deffinitely a different mentality, also the weekend crowd has a lot more boarders than the rest of the week. i'd say it's about 50:50 at baker and stevens.
 
around here there is alot of rich kids with nice gear who just ski/board through the park and dont tuch a thing
 
if you would finish reading it...... these kids dont touch a thing in the park and have some sick gear. they wanna talk crap and be all cocky but they wont touch anything. so yea pretty much a POSER
 
^ if you suck and have nice shit like the best of the best I consider that a poser but it does not have anything to do with skier to boarder ratio
 
In my opinion yes because if someone is buying top of the line shit and totally blows balls and is a pussy I consider tham a poser cuase they just have that shit to fit in or whatever just my opinion and I see it alot at my mountain.
 
^People just get jealous because they think if there better than you they deserve the expensive gear not you
 
You probably are the rich kid progressing lol you have like 60000 pairs of skis ill admit im jelous but im not gonna say everyone deserves the best shit sure if you want to throw the money out go ahead but that shit aint for me go play some golf or something pce
 
exactly. I mean I know I'm guilty of that sometimes. If I saw someone riding maidens (skis i want but cant afford) that completely sucked i'd be like, god dammit i'd give those things such a better home. It's like seeing a hot chick with a douche bag guy.
 
here it seems that the over all ratio skier:boarder is

1:1 all mountain

1:2 on the rails and wallrides and such

1:5 in the mini park

10:1 on the big jump lines

1:10 on hikable bowls
