Skier Superstitions

Last call is always bad luck same with snow of the top sheets. I always tap my skis together when I get on the lift to get the snow off and before I hit anything I have to tap my tails on the snow to get the topsheets clean. habit

Hmm, ive got a couple, some are just habits that i have, others are kinda just things you do, no questions or explinations.

1. me (and most people i know) always click our poles together when passing on cat tracks, we started when we were racers and i just have always done it, ive seen gapers randomly take huge turns and take kiddos out.

2. NEVER get on chair 13, just dont. We used to have this chill race coach at bogus who was like 20 and he told us never to get on 13 when we were like twelve, and me and my friends have adopted that. I dont care how long the lines are, if we see 13 coming we either skip the chair or let people go.

3. poles always face forward, otherwise it just dont feel right.

4. Never "call" how much snow is gonna fall. If its snowing and your with your buddies, never be like i bet were getting 4 more inches, or anything like that, cause it stops snowing and never meets the goal. Just be happy its snowing i guess is the reason.

1. I never knock my skis together.
2. I have to have my pole straps on
3. I am constantly adjusting my helmet/goggles. (Probably more of an obsessive compulsive thing)
4. I always unbuckle my boots before I get on the lift.
5. I sometimes knock my poles together, but I did it more before I started sitting on my poles on the lift.

I've never had anything bad happen on a called last run.

1. nothing like a good ole piss before dropping into a big line

2. Sometimes I'll just get these feelings like not to hit somethin, just negative vibes.

I get that too. Its terrible because i'll be all pumped before hitting some nice big hit and then all of a sudden a huge gust of wind, it suddenly gets really cold, the park is completely deserted or sometimes it just comes outta no where. it SUCKS

i cant have snow on my skis. i either hit them on the lift or i slap them on the ground to get the snow off before i go off a jump.

I'm from a pretty small park... when I was a little kid and the lifties called last run I would bet them I could race down and make it for one more. I usually got it too.

I always click my skis together on the lift..and always before i hit a rail i always need a knuckle punch or something

i usually end up missing the last chair and have to hike all the way back up to the parking lot.

Same i yust to do the same ski on the foot thing but then i heard it es bad for your edges so now i switch them every once in a while

I hate it when you get that snow that's really hard to get off. I always scrape it off with my skis or if I'm off the lift a lean forward to scrape them off with my hands.

pretty much the same as everyone else...NO calling last run

idk..i always shake all the snow off of my skis on the lift and i put my right ski on slowly and the left one on more faster lol i think that's juss me being weird

a good one is if u are going to the hot tub after skiing never ever ever ever ever ever for get to bring a TOWEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the way to lab their are railroad tracks and if you dont pick up your feet in the car on the way you will fuck your shit up.

Never strap poles, i have broken my thumb 3 times because of those damn straps.

Try to throw trash and butts into the barrels at the bottom of the lift poles.

Fix pants before every hit.

If you even think last run/hit you better just take them off and walk down.

I always drink Green Tea Vitamin Water and smoke Newport hundos while skiing.

White lighters bring snow but bad luck when not on the mountain.

Never smoke glass before skiing, always dutches or joints.

Never call last run, and when i put on my skis, whichever ski has the most graphic or art or name whatev is always on my right foot. i cant explain it.

word same here. except only twice i think. but they were both in like a 3 month period. since then, i havent used straps and have been jussst fine

i have the old white and blue 1080 boots. They have the 4 buckle set up, and i have to do them up in a certain order, to a certain tightness. When i do this, i just go into zen mode. Plus got to have the pole straps on before i hit anything.

i dont give a shit about which ski is on wich foot but i know exactly what you mean. its as if youre not balanced or something

I never talk about the snow when it is snowing. When I was a kid my parents use to tell us that the sun would hide behind the clouds, and it would rain if we talked about it. I adapted the superstition to snow as I got older. I switch my skis every run if it involves hiking, gondola, tram, sled. I switch them every few runs if I'm riding the chair. I prefer if nobody notices me do it, so I try to be nonchalant about it.

skis on correct foot

articles of clothing go on right to left. opposite goes for skis.

goggles under helmet.

floating down a river in mid-november as my sacrifice to ullr.

fuck.. that's coming quick. ughh

ya i always put my skis on a certain way every time...and sometimes i do it with my poles cuz they are different colors...and as for the "last run" thing i will refuse to call "last run" ever again in my life i have fallen victim to many "last run" disasters

hahahahahahahahaha same, i agree with all, and i always make fun of lucas once a run.

and we both know he learned a lesson with the glass at the togg rail jam. btw hes getting a fx7/dolly/track

YEAH, last run called by somebody else while longboarding a parking garage: me with a broken wrist.

usually ill adjust my goggles like 4 times knowing there perfectly fine. Nervous habit prlly. i always pull down my pants before i do a rail run. I always pray before a do a jump run lol.

i always pass a run if im feeling any gut feeling that i shouldnt do something, i just pass everything or just dont do anything but straight air and slide straight to get the vibes out.

always tap my poles in front of me before a run, and if i'm about to hit something for the first time/try something new, i tap once in front of me, once behind my back.

or when skiing with a buddy, if we're about to drop into some trees we tap poles together, each side to the other (my right to his left etc) Supposed to represent sick turns and not hitting trees or any shit.
