Just slide sideways with your butt on the ground. Or at least that's what I see most people doing. Looks rad!

Remember, if you're not pushing away all the snow to expose the ice underneath, you're doing it wrong.

Can you skateboard? If so the turn initiation is similar to getting the back of your skateboard to slide toe or heel. It's fairly simple to learn given you already understand how an edge(s) work. It'll take a day, your ass will be sore and your feet will feel great.

If you're somewhat decent at skiing it'll come easy for you. My friend who telemarks picked up snowboarding (still skis on pow days sometimes) and was buttering around and sliding boxes pretty quickly.

Give it 3 days.

Day 1 = pain

Day 2 = something clicks

Day 3 = you're an intermediate.

I made this a long time ago when a friend asked the same question.....

I bought a snurfer (snowboard without bindings or edges) and I love it. It feels great to bring to sledding hills or to dick around in my yard when there's an inch of snow. Much more fun than a snowboard and only 100$.

pretty accurate imo and experience trying recently.

last week I took a board out 3 afternoons in a row. Cruising groomers and linking turns but the falls are less anticipated and sometimes slammed me way harder than expected. Whole experience made the mountain seem huge

Runs feel 5 times as long on a snowboard I swear

That’s kinda what I’m going for, the mountain seems kinda small nowadays

I went out and learned to snowboard. When living is ice coast and getting tired of the same thing, I rented a board and taught myself to board. Took a me a couple years, but I can handle a snowboard.

A year back, my buddy, who rips on snowboarding a lot, gave it a try. I just got up and went...him...not so much. He ended up rage quitting. Gave him some respect for the sport though.

How do you snowboard rage quit?

Also I like that you quoted me talking about future spins in your signature

Through your board and slide down the mountain? Idk.

Snowboarding is fun as fuck though. Im thinking about bringing my skis out to CA with me this year. I still need boots. That's probably what's kept me from skiing the last 5 years.

Also NS was an incredibly unhelpful place for boot advice. I might hit a ski swap and find a pair or two for cheap that fit.

This is so true on every level.
