Skier killed attempting a road gap on berthoud pass

I don't ever want to hear any banter about Colorado kids not sending it ever again. Super gutted about this, knowing some of his friends I'll make sure his legacy and spirit live on however that may be. Starting by naming the gap "Dallas" but beyond that. Berthoud has taken a lot of lives, but this one is so different.
 
rip..so people have completed the gap before? Anone know if there is video from others to get perspective of the gap? Looks massive

I don't know of anyone who's died hitting that. Most deaths are avalanche deaths or hitting a tree or something like that
 
death is always terrible. really hits hard when someone dies doing something we’re all so passionate about. to think someone went out stoked on a shot they were gonna get and never come home is fuckin tragic.

The absolute balls on this kid to attempt this are massive, and legendary. Most deaths at berthoud are due to avalanche, this kid went out attempting the most burly gnarly never been done gap known to man that would make Tanner hall quiver in his full tilts, and is a testament to Dallas's will and courage to send something with such high consequence. I will think about him sending this every time I cross berthoud pass now which is a historic cornerstone of the ski industry and culture in America. Heaven claimed a good one this week. Though I never knew him I respect the shit out of this kid. Can only imagine what insane feats and next level radness he would have gone on to conquer in his life had the snow been a tad faster that day or the wind a bit more at his back. This was one time you don't want the road to rise up to meet you, but I know his spirit will shred on in some form. Seems like he packed 12 lifetimes of sendiness into his 21 years on this rock. God bless you young skier bro
 
Holy crap to even try that is ridiculous I always think about it when I’m driving over berthoud but I’m always like no way. This guy is burly as fuck sucks to lose him so soon. Also not trying to blame it on sum but that lip looks mad jank for a gap that big

idk, considering how big that vertical drop is and how small and steep the landing is comparatively, it makes sense why it was built more like a step-down. Prayers to all his homies and families I cant imagine what they're going through

A friend of a friend from Albuquerque came up short trying to gap the Sandia crest road a few years back, ended up breaking his femur I think. And that gap has almost zero vertical drop, nowhere near as gnarly as this Berthoud one looks. Road gaps can def get real gnarly
 
So fucking sad, shit hit home real good for me yesterday. Have his family and friends in my thoughts. Smoked a phat one for Dallas yesterday.

Yup. It’s best just to move on. I know many aren’t familiar it with it but I prefer the r/cosnow subreddit and they’ve been making a thing lately about not being disrespectful. There will always be shitty people, especially when they can be anonymous.
