Skier drops 230 foot cliff at snowbird, ut

i thought there was already a thread about this but he landed between two rocks to the side of where he meant to go but if he had landed where he planned it would be 290

thanks schmo. that was insightful. i personally htink its crazy. the whole 'world record drop' is like 'spin to win'. skiing isn't about that!

apparantly he mant to hit the green line, but hit the red line instead.

I agree its crazy, but skiing is kinda about that. If the sport didnt push boundries, we would all be going crazy over peoples powder suits, straight skis and crazy ass backscratchers.

But yeah, the record drops are getting into more like failed base jumps than skiing off cliffs.

what amazes me is that landing on your back off a 230 foot cliff is cool, but stringing together a sweet ass line in the bc is lame and everyday.

both spin to win and jummping of big clifs dont require very much skill because with spin to win you are mostlikly going to like like a fliing fesies and with clife any one can do that all u do is go as fast as u can an pray

conclution = DUMB

why doesn't anyone get video of this shit? its obviously a big deal. or maybe they do and dont bring it out until the movies.

just picture someone going massively huge, probably flailing a lot, and then double ejecting in epic fashion.

pretty sure, as the title states, this one was 230 feet. look at the 2 pics dude. totally different trajectories. one was planned ( hte green) and the red is actual

Oh god, I did a 10 foot one too, like the guy on Teton was saying... and Ive been having back problems since and that was 2 months ago, it was onto flat though.

from reading the TGR thread, it sounds like he was going on the right line, the other line was one he had *thought* about but decided against...however it seems he landed a lot higher then he and everyone else expected, which is why he ended up where he did. However, it sounds like he's considering doing it again, with a jump off the top... insanity.

read the thread.

he was fuckign money in the air apparently, and backslapped real nice, to the rock....i htink hell stomp it next time. leo is the man.

i'm not sure why these guys are straight-airing these massive drops- it's not like they're going to land in such a way that's going to let them ski smoothly out of it. especially when Pierre dropped the one off Targhee- he knew the snowpack was deep enough that no matter how he landed (on his head, perhaps?) he was going to live, so i don't know why he didn't throw a lincoln or something like he did off the 160' drop he did a couple seasons ago.

i'm not ragging on them, don't misunderstand- just thinking, um... not really "out loud"... online?

The horizontal distance on that cliff is massive. With a booter on top of that cliff and a little more speed he's going to throw 300'. I hope for his sake he doesn't. But if he does, hopefully he does a cork 7 or something.

thats called possible suicide & not skiing

equal to going over niagara falls in a barrel. not too intelligent like jaimie pierre

the dude is not sponsored, he was filmed by amateurs, not movie companies. So hopefully some footage soon. And where he landed has to be a godly intervention, huge balls, congrats for skiing out alive.

partially wrong. cliff drops of 100' or less are cool. everything above that is just asking for trouble.

i'd hate to be the friend who encourages him to go for it again only to watch him die on the next attempt... that could just get bad VERY fast. not something you'd find me doing anytime soon.

i know him, its all him, his friends aren't telling him to do it, hes done a 200 fter before, he's kind of crazy but he knows his shti so well

Man, why would he waste his time with a cork 7, he could do like a cork 3960 (11 spins) no problem with that much air, or like 6 lincoln loops, 8 backflips...the possibilities are endless.

I wasn't trying to bag on him, I don't even know the guy that's just what I've come to expect from cliff hucks of that magnitude. If he kept it together in the air off that shit then he truly is the man (hell even if he didn't he's one ballsy son of a bitch).
