Skied without poles today..

Thumb is sort of wrecked so cant use poles at the moment, skied one whole day without them and i already miss them so much. dont know where people get the "more free" feeling when they ride without them. i felt just stupid without them and i didnt notice much difference while doing grabs. Poles!

I like no poles for rails and smaller parks. It feels very weird hitting larger jumps or skiing out of the park without them though.

You'll get used to it after awhile. I grew up not using poles, that's the only reason I don't now-it feels natural without them. By the time your thumb is better you might end up liking having no poles though

I agree. I broke my poles so i had none today and I feel like I look awkward and it just don't feel right.

i could make a comment about how theres so many threads about this or i could comment on the amount of comments on the number of these threads about this but i can only go so meta as to say that there are really a lot of comments about the number of comments commenting on the amount of these threads.

please stop the reposts before we go too deep.

is this really what you want?

TLDR: OP usually skis with poles but he tried without and he didn't like it! That is so neat-o! What will happen next in the life of OP. Keep us posted OP. Maybe wear a go pro during your everyday life so we can keep track of all the neat things that happen to you!

I busted my thumb last weekend, so this weekend will be my first time skiing without poles since I was like 5 haha. Probably gonna stick to the park so it shouldn't be too weird, but I can't imagine riding any terrain, especially glades, without poles.

I use to hate pole-less skiing, but now I do it more often. Nothing like hot lapping a park or charging glades without poles.

i would rather read a thread about this than read about miley and nick goeppers new girl he gets to smack cheeks with..but i may just be a little jealous.

I drop the poles for pow runs pretty often. Dragging your hands through the snow, the different feeling, it's really fun. Anything technical though like rails or bigger jumps, big mountain, I'm not down. I feel naked without poles which is amazing for playing around in some deeps but really throws me off when I have to pay attention.

Poles in the park literally makes no sense. When would you use them? They're probably too short to even touch the ground anyway. I keep my poles for skiing outside the park, where they belong.

good looks op, this aint rollerbladinggggg

I had big all mountain poles and dropped them the other day because they were getting in the way in the park. no poles is so much easier it really shouldnt be allowed in competition. grabs are ridiculously easy and rails its too easy to contain your style and trick people into thinking your hands waving everywhere is "steezy"

shits gay IMHO

^ 100% agree , if you are not comfrtable without poles , wear them. if your thumb is fucked up or something, man up and get out there without poles for the week or two. this doesn't deserve a thread.

Getting out of the park for a run. Skiing without poles that day. Start bombing a sketchy hill at 45mph. Tranny finding every possible mogul. So much fun

I skied the last month of my season without poles because I had to wear a splint on my broken hand, and skiing anywhere technical (trees, bumps, ect) sucked.
