Skibowl!

Yeah - The Marmot better not lame out on you guys like last weekend!

And he better have his ass ready to rip in three weeks when I am up there. The Friction Crew will be rolling, smoking and drinking in the morning.

yup, never go there on a pow day, its really shitty. should probably go to t-line instead

It was pretty fucking sweet this weekend. Saturday was nice early but real sketchy when the power was tracked out. But it just kept snowing. Sunday was much nicer and the conditions much more forgiving with the added base. Loathe my chump ass.

Anyone going up to skibowl Friday? They say there will be a 3pm opening. Might be nice freshies to be had. I'm too lazy to procure a vehicle of my own. Gimme a ride, I have gas money and smoke.

Brutal for you, but whatever freshies may fall will be saved for me :D

Or, at the very least, they will have time to set some features in the park

oh I guess they are open tomorrow, just lower bowl and multorpor. Looking at the webcam, I say it doesnt look much different than last weekend.

I see timberline has the mile open today. The marmot was talking about going up to timberline tomorrow. I also see timberline is listing the palmer as closed with no mention of the snowcat on the page anymore. Can they still open the palmer lift this year? Hijacking my own thread!

they wont open palmers chair anymore this season condiions are too shitty up there... i dono if they'll do that snowcat thing again though.

They definitely do the snowcat. They had removed palmer from the list of lifts and added the snowcat blurb, but just recently they removed the blurb and put palmer back on the list, albeit closed, so that made me think that they might try to run the palmer again this year.

Regardless, we will be going up there Saturday morning.

Snowcat, lift or neither, I am going to make you march your ass up the palmer snowfield in a few weeks when I am acclimating for Silverton :D. That will be much more fun than actually skiing. Good Times!

The palmer lift was indeed running today. Yours truly, the party marmot, and an anonymous snowboarder got first chair about 1:20pm. All in all, it was pretty fucking sweet today once the palmer opened, otherwise it was the most amazing gaperville imaginable up there.

Give me a call when you are not working for your red chinese masters and I will fill you in on the details senor commander.

Based on the forecast, it looks, like last year, that I will catch the very beginning of a huge ass storm. Apparently, I really am a physical manifestation of the Tlaloc, Aztec God of precipitation, lightning and (curiously) fertility.

Yeah - it has been raining here for four days. Snowbowl is actually going to open on Thursday - the website says it is ok to hike in the ski area, but there is extreme avalanche danger today!

Looks like Friday may be the the mini park on Thunder and practicing switch on groomers. Ugh again.

Well that is dumb to tell people it's ok to hike if there is avalanche danger.

Yep, looks like the minipark for us on Friday, but I must say I've never been so excited to hit the minipark :P

well yea.. sk bowl could definetly use more snow since meadows is suffering.  this weekend though it looks like. staurday and sunday hopefully...  p.s. why does the pow always come on the weekends?  that sucks.  i'm taking 2 days school a week for a reason!!  :D:D

The weasel is right, the blood sacrifices have been working - The AZ resorts are opening tomorrow, Silverton had its second largest storm cycle ever and, Aztec spirits willing, we will have pow pow on Saturday and Sunday!

Has to be at least two feet since you left? I'm gonna try and make it up there tomorrow. Just saw someone riding the lift up on the webcam *sigh*. Looks like a good chance of a nice refresh tonight though.

Sigh? Tlaloc is violently ill over this. More blood sacrifices must be made to ensure powder for the weekend after next.

Don't worry, you didn't miss much, after all, how much fun can you have in knee deep pow that makes straight-lining everything almost mandatory?

I got fourth chair, incidentally, with a dude from Rhody riding Prophet 130's.

The webcam seemed to be pointed at the lift unboarding area all day, not sure it was working, too bad you missed us giving everyone at home the fist in the crook of the elbow fuck you on the first ride.

Yep, I imagine the skiing is pretty good today too. I bet the tree stashes would be glorious. The marmot and I will be going up Saturday evening.

Snow-forecast.com is predicting 21.2 inches by Wednesday and for the snow to keep falling. Tlaloc is pleased. Keep the blood sacrifices coming.

Skibowl on Christmas Eve was the sickets yet. I'm sure you listened to the message the Party Marmot left you. We did exaggerate, we never got on the hill again because it was mostly white out. The marmot hit Scotty's way while I ran Accelerator first time up. It was 8 inches on a crust, wasn't that fun. So we decided to hit the other side of the bowl. The West Wall was crazy steep and deep, I think the marmot said something about the best run of his life. Did that a few times, then we traversed all the way across the top of the West Wall to the bottom part of Bob Strand's towards Powder Keg, where we had first tracks and the best run of my life. (Yes, it turns out that that run we sorta have been calling Powder Keg is actually the bottom part of Bob Strand's downhill). The outback opened soon after and we hiked to the top of Tom Dick Peak for a run down the Western Boundary and Black Label Pitch. Then another run in the outback where we dropped in earlier for some amazingly creamy turns, hit Fistful of Willows, and then a little bit of some brutal/sketchy outback tree skiing while both of our goggles were fogging up badly.

I had to stop listening to the message due to a horrible case of dry heaves. The trip report isn't doing much to settle my stomach.

It does help a bit that snow-forecast.com is calling for 28.6 inches by Thursday night and it looks like a pretty good chance of precipitation through Sunday or Monday.

The marmot was staying at the Resort with his parents and was planning to tap that stash again this morning. I bet it was even more obscene.

The marmot reports that Christmas day was opposite of the day before. He found all the deepness on east wall runs: scotty's way, accelerator, and radical. Oh and apparently he made an epic run down powder keg at some point.

Bumping the thread with a pic of c0bra_c0mmander from last Saturday at Skibowl
