Skiboarding in the x-games

so skiboarding was in the x games before skiing..wow thats a disgrace it was even in there..i was kinda hoping i was just fucked up and imaging shit, but i guess not
 
ETA till this thread turns into a skiboarding hate thread...

hate it, or love it... but some of the sports pioneers starting in skiboarding, so you should show it at least a little love.

Anyone remember X-treme snowshovel racing at X? Now that was hilarious.
 
i remember that..they also had downhill biking with the piranha lady and the sled things..i dunno what they were called
 
what the fuck?????!!!  that video was hilarious, i cant believe they actually had skiboarding in the x games, and they were serious about it too!
 
my old maths teacher in switzerland used to skiboard. he was about 7 feet tall as well. and considering 6 foot of that was taken up by his legs, it was a funny sight to behold. day glow clothes an' all. he did use to do backies on his skiboard though. so we all loved him!

oh, he also used to practise cross country skiing in teh summer down the road with wheels on his skis wearing his goggles and hat even though it was 85 degrees!

its not a disgrace, it set the satge for bigger and better things.as gay as it was, it opened new doors in terms of freestyle skis and what can be done.

I remember skiing with iannic b, J Lev, and Mike the first day they were on skis...the good ol days when you would go days without seeing other twin tips...

I don't think its a big deal freeskiing came from skiboarding.
 
No.  It didn't.  Although a few of the skiboarders did switch from blading to freeskiing. 

Freeskiing came from mogul skiers (douglas, cusson, auclair, dorion, thovex, mosely, schad, szocs, mcdonnell, raps, dybvig, dorion, regnier, hall, loubek, etc, etc, etc)

Yeah that's definitely true, but skiboarding also influenced the sport as well...it was a funny time in freeskiing, haha. The dual influence of mogul skiing/skiboarding...priceless.
 
Yeah me too man, I remember watching this on tv. I also remember a big air comp on tv and they did some ridiculous spins for the time like I think at least a 1440.
 
yes it was. but in thwe past the xgames has also include sky boarding, freestyle bungee jumping, street luge down hill rollerblading, and i think maybee even full contact hacky sack haha any way what does it matter
 
Can't knock it that bad pretty progressive stuff that people were not even thinking about in skiing.

Exactly. It seems ridiculous now but it's naive to deny that skiboarding didn't have a pretty big influence on freeskiing between 1995 and 2000. In the 1998 winter x games, skiboarding featured in a slopestyle format, freeskiing (excluding skier x) didn't even feature in the x games until the following year, and then it was only in a Big Air format. Things have come a long way in 10 years.
 
Skiboarder, black guy, was an up-and-comer in skiing. Inline skater as well too right? Had a one page profile in Freeze back in the day, and never really did anything in skiing.
