Ski without socks?

I know this is or was common among ski racers, anyone here do this, like sometimes or always?

I prefer the better 'feel', and it's one less thing to worry about wearing. Plus noone's going to be stealing my boots anytime soon, although my friends think I'm crazy for doing so.

Im surprized I have never thought of doin it. I have been playin ice hockey w/ no socks for as long as I can remember b/c it feels better. Im gonna have to try it skiing.

Then I would get boots that fit if I were you.

I've done it when I forget my ski socks and dont want to ride with short socks.

my boots are really old, and the insulation probably isnt what it used to be, so my feet would definatly freeze. But i have done it late season when it's really warm out.

Duh, what do you wear under your snowpants?

and I ski w/o socks when I forget my ski socks, but it smells like bitch afterwords.

seriously, one time I put my boots on the boot dryer at my shop for a better fit, and my manager across the room, who was painting, yelled at me to take them off.

Your feet will get cold because of all the sweat sitting around your foot, and the build-up of sweat over time would make the liner really nassty. It's a bad idea.

boxers no matter the weather, but i use to ski without socks when i raced but havent really sence. I remember doing that cause whn you have your boots race tight the sock doesnt cling to your foot leaving those marks or sometimes blisters

Now speaking of the smell, does anybody do anything to deal with it? Mine are bad, but not to the stage of killing small pets.

I guess so, b/c most of my teammates dont wear socks.

Oh and if the smell of not wear sock in ski boots are similar to not wear in ice skates kill small animals wont be the problem, its finding a place to keep them that wont make your entire house smell like B.O. wraped in a baby diaper.

Quote Reply ski without socks= shin bang

How would that make a difference for shin bang? If you dry your boots everynight it takes care of the smell.
