Ski Weights

Everybody says that the Afterbangs are super heavy and stuff, but the rest of line's skis are just as heavy if not heavier.. Why do they only pick on the Afterbangs?

Because Afterbangs are advertised as a super light, playful ski but they're heavy and have a dead flex.

the abangs are heavy because of their construction. sure other line skis are heavy compared to other brands BUT abangs are just heavy and often feel lifeless. thats why NS picks on the abangs

OG chronics are light. the chronic cryptonite (or this years chronic) are fatter and pretty heavy

You won't notice the weight after a few runs, light skis are not durable usually. Heavish skis are where its at.

This is true. You do get accustomed to the weight, but when I tried my friend's afterbangs and my other friends masterminds, they are definitely significantly heavier but thats not to say I really liked the chronics. I think I had pretty heavy bindings too.. (Look Px-12 jib bindings)

Punx? Meh, they are okay, but still one good hit on a rock and they will explode, happened to a buddy of mine. They would be a fine choice though, just don't expect them to last for more than a season if you ride hard and/or land on the occasional rock.

some people put heave ass bindings on the a bangs which make them heavy but if you pick the ski up at a shop there not as heavy as people make it sound

Thats partly due to the fact that a-bangs soak up water eventually and get heavier. I saw a pair of used a-bangs at a shop, and I like to think I'm pretty reasonable when it comes to using heavy skis, but wow those things just felt like bricks.

Chronic Cryptonites are 1,999 grams per ski and the abangs are 1,930 grams per ski. As compared to other skis of the same size, they are statistically speaking heavier anywhere from 200-500 grams per ski. Take for example the liberty antigens. 1,450 grams per ski. I think its all a personal decision.

Umm, I wasn't complaining on the weight, I was simply wondering why everyone picked on the weight of it. I own Afterbangs as of now and love them, I don't find them very heavy either.

Well people might think line a-bangs or whatever are heavy but it's really the binding if you have a good light park binding it's not a problem.

People on here are such idiots. Ski weights vary extremely slightly from ski to ski, and its usually unnoticeable. Unless you guys have stick legs, then ski weight really isn't a big factor at all. And if you do, its not too hard to work out a bit.

What are you kids talking about? Marker bindings are super light, squires are just stupid light b/c there is nothing to them. no beef at all and will most likely not last long if you ride hard.

Freetens are not a binding name dude, I'm not sure what binding your talking about, mabeye post a pic? Binding weight is a good thing to a certain degree.

You guys got to remember, in most cases weight = durability, so don't rule out a binding or ski just b/c it is a little bit heavier than other options, weight can be a good thing.
