Hey I just got a Canon GL2 camera and startin a back country video this winter with some local riders and was wonder if anyone here has ever made one and actually like release it and if there are legal things you have to go through to use someones music on your soundtrack?

 
usually if your production budget is under a certain amount the labels don't care. But call to make sure. Don't pull an Iberg and get yourself in deep shit.

 
we did like a homemade shitty vid last year but only gave it to frineds but this w/ this new cam and we got a DVD burner we wanna try to dish outta a couple hundred mebbe if thats not too optimistic, since we aren't exactly pro skiers but we can go big and wreck hard and everything inbetween so maybe some locals wil buy it just to see their own up and comers, but yeah I don't wanna get in shit.

you cannot use copyrighted music in the video...if you do, and you get a station to air your tape, the station can be sued a minimun of 500k by the FCC.
