Ok I ride park basically 99 percent of the time and have new line blends but am unsure about how 2 tune them. I always see pro skiers like rubbing there edge of one ski on the base of the other ski and am unsure what that does so someone please help me with that but I've always just had my friends defund my edges but he's not where I live anymore so I am unsure how to go about that as well. So basically what should I do to my base and what should I do to my edges. The skis are brand new btw. Thanks yal

I'm not qualified to teach you anythin but you should totally go see your local shop! If you simply tell them you're interested in learning how to tune and look after your gear yourself, most likely they'd be happy to show you the ropes and hook you up with a file, some wax, gummy stone, and a scraper.

They're not rubbing the base of the ski, they're rubbing the bottom edge of that ski. Like the guy above me said, just hop into your local shop and ask to watch a ski tune/detune and get a better idea of what to do

If its a brand new ski, theres not much needed. I always do a warm weather wax and scrape it before it hardens. Then throw on a good all temp wax, let that sit for a bit and then throw on whatever temp you need. To detune the edges, i just use a file and a gummy stone and just detune under foot. If you wanna get real crazy, use an angle grinder to quickly detune and ruin any edges

When I detuned my edges I used a file. At 45 degrees hold the file parallel with the edge and work in even pulls with light pressure. You can always take more material off, you can't put it back on. But also I didn't detune underfoot just up beyond the contact points in the tip rocker because I wasn't doing a park ski.

You don't need to made a huge deal about it, it isnt life and death you are just taking the sharpness down a little bit so they aren't so grabby.

1. Go on Start Haus' youtube and watch Jim Schaffner's hand tuning videos.. they're for race tuning, but its the same shit either way.

you can simplify it with less tools for park ski tuning...

Tune your skis with a 1-2 edge bevel. (so get a 1 degree base file guide, and a 88* side edge file guide)

then if you hit a shitload of rails, just detune between your bindings and you're ready to ski.
