Ski Town Throwdown

So.... how gay was the ski town throw down?? Looked at the two finalist cities (Rossland/Nelson, and Bozeman), and let me start off by saying ive never even heard of fucking Nelson before let alone any resort near it. And i can say that Bozeman is very undeserving of this award. I have been there and trust me, its just a bunch of fucking ranchers, plus its a solid two hours away from Big Sky, which didn't impress me much either. So, who is the winner of ski town throwdown according to newschoolers? I am just baffled that Salt Lake, Park City, Aspen, or Truckee didn't even make it to the top 8.

As a "Rancher" I agree, Bozeman is not near any ski hills, Bozeman doesnt have fun night life, Bozeman never gets snow, and there are mile long lift lines. Dont waste your time coming here

Yeah, just a bunch of fucking hicks, nothing to do, and the snow and people are just awful. Stay the hell away from Bozeman.

yea, bozo sucks. the last thing we need is more people to come here. all the out of staters come here expecting to ski and end up just ranching. and trust me, ranchers are ass holes and are a complete drain on the society.

hahaha. holy shit. never heard of Rossland or Nelson. You really can't get any more legit with ski towns. Aspen? hahahahaha

Look up Red Mountain and Whitewater, then look up Jeff Schmuck, Leah Evans, James Heim, Weiner, Nancy Greene, Travis Steeger and you'll learn a little.

this is true. bozeman is full of a bunch of ranchers and there is no skiing here. it sucks. Nobody should ever ever come here. the worst ski town in america. don't come here

rossland and whatever took out my main moutain cb. i had never heard of it before, but BC is one hell of a place. that is all

theres a reason rafters (the bar at Red) is one of the best in north america. where else in the world is it acceptable to play flip cup, table crawl or openly smoke a joint on the deck and not get kicked out? not to mention Red mountain has the gnarliest fucking terrain in terms of in bounds resort riding. and whitewater gets crazy amount of snow each year. besides its a skiTOWN throwdown.. does not get any more legit then rossland/nelson.

how do you figure big sky is 2 hours from bozeman. It's 45 minutes at the most and bridger is 15 minutes from downtown.

Yeah no body ever go to Bozeman. Everyone is so mean, the lift lines are like 3 feet long, and the snow is way to deep, oh and the drive from bozemans the Bigsky sucks. Its like 30 whole minutes and there are too many mountain goats, rivers, mountains, and trees. Life sucks, oh and everyone hails Satan and smokes meth

Haha this forum is full of people from Montana I knew they would be comin in pissed off when I read this. Supposed to be a chill place not sure how Big Sky actually is looks a lilttle flat (but still fun.)

Reno is probably the most spoiled ski area I have been to and should win for best ski town. But hardly anyone here skis lol unless you're in a nicer part of town around middle class people so its not a ski town. Mad people here don't ski its weird. Not sure if Bozeman is the same or if everyone actually does ski I haven't been.

And anyone who does ski here in Reno knows it is the fucking shit and Tahoe has the best mountains in America. People in Reno are actually so spoiled they act like Kirkwood which is all of a full 90 minute drive away is the same distance as Mammoth since Rose, Flatstar, and Squaw are all about an hour or less (Rose.)

jackson, cb and telluride those are real ski towns. Almost everything else is a big city you can weekend warrior from, or some truck stop shit hole.

The fact that you have never heard of nelson, by default makes it the best ski town. But everyone vote for bozeman. Keep people away from Nelson.

bozeman is less than 45 minutes (in decent weather conditions) from both big sky resort and bridger bowl.

with that said bozeman sucks, don't go here, and i hate it.

You should probably just stop.

You say Reno is the best ski town, but follow it up with saying that nobody in Reno skis... how does that make it a ski town?

You say you've never heard of Nelson and that Bozeman sucks, yet you admit you've never been to Bozeman.

You claim that Big Sky is flat, when there is clearly steep terrain there.

I'm curious. Are you from Reno? and have you skied anywhere outside of Tahoe?

This guy knows what he is talking about. Tahoe is the most beautiful place on earth and its 45 minutes away from Reno. Reno is a really big town and yes, most people do not ski, but there is still a really big number of skiers here and skiing is a big part of the culture (ever heard of moment skis?), so It should definately be considered a ski town. I think it often times goes unnoticed because people think its just a shithole in the middle of the desert. If you have never been to Tahoe, don't talk shit about Tahoe because it not only has a dozen amazing ski resorts around it, It's probly the most beautiful place on Earth plus its pretty nice in the summer

Re read my posts cockbreath I didn't say half that shit you maricon. Same goes to the guy couple posts above you callin me out. Some of you are sensitiv douchebags one of you bitches even posted a picture of strait rocks with a tiny unskiable chute as evidence. Haha there wasn't a chair lift to be seen in EITHER of his pictures trying to show its not flat. Yeah I might not want to hike when I ski and only care about lift accessed shit. Sorry. Lol.

Yeah, Reno is an hour away from the best skiing in North America. And your average joe doesn't ski. So the guy who said CB/Telluride/Jackson are the only real ski towns was onto something. But since I HAVENT BEEN to Bozeman I got no clue if its like Telluride or more like Reno. I'm guessing its a smaller version of the later.

Everyone in this thread is a fucking moron who tried calling me out I didn't even talk any shit in my posts please re read your stupid shit.

Is Mammoth 100% open yet? Are yall on track to be getting the same 4-6 feet right before Christmas we are?

Need to hit it up at some point this year since I am can pass by it on either of my trips to/from Tuscon and Vegas without much detour.

well, actually there is a lift that goes to the top of lone peak.

and in fact, that chute is skiable. it's called Big Couloir, and it's anything but "tiny."

oh, and we're the sensitive ones? if i recall correctly you're the one posting paragraphs and calling people "cockbreath" (good one bro, you really made me question my sexuality!)

We've been 100% open for like 2 weeks and yes there is a big storm that's supposed to drop 3-6' this weekend.

I might have been hasty on that post yes that lift looks solid.

Is it true that the best lift accessed terrain is at that private resort next door you need to be a millionaire to ski at and is always empty?

it's called the yellowstone club, and i'm not sure about the terrain there. big sky has more than enough great lift accessed terrain to satisfy any skiers needs though

Not really. I hit the all best chutes at KWood yesterday that were like that minus that one rock. But there is that big rock in the middle of the upper part its hard to tell how much it sticks out. Or do you just haul ass over rocks like that since you're fucking amazing or use jedi mind tricks to make them dissapear?

We can all play the game from our computers of "I could ski that" I know what I hit this week alone and how I skiied it. Actually I was surprised I dropped into all my shit so quickly and didn't bitch around at the top from looking at what I skiied afterwards from the lift. After a couple runs when I was riding a different chair I looked over to seee where it is I would have just skiied and was like "dang that is actually the gnarliest part." At K wood it can be somewhat tough to know exactly where you are dropping in off the cornice.

yellowstone club is pretty much all groomers. it's got some fun glades and bowls but I wouldn't say it has great terrain.

fuck tahoe. its probably the most beautiful place on earth. it has some of the fluffiest, thickest, best snow on the planet as well. Not to mention endless resorts, parks, and a kick ass lake. the mountains are epic and the forests fucking rock. but the people....ive never seen so many tourists in my life. sacramento and san francisco are what ruin tahoe. everyone from these cities always coming up trying to come see the snow thinking they know what the fuck is up. this is what makes tahoe suck. Bozeman is awesome because it is a town, not a vacation destination. tahoe is like disneyland nowadays. thats why when i graduate high school im getting the fuck outta tahoe and moving to either bozeman or some other ski town.

You sound like you suck and are trying to impress strangers on the web. There really isn't much room to go around the rock is there?

weak argument being made but i can see where youre coming from. i voted for cb all the way. but i lived there for 2 yrs so im a bit biased. cb and jackson probably have the most tried and true die hard skiers ive ever met. those dudes that ski there day in and day out are no joke. and both mountains are ones you have to bring your A-game to if you really want to experience the mountains in their entirety.

i cant speak on bozeman, never been. seems like a cool town, i have friends at msu and they really like it.
