Ski to Board to Ski

One of my friends used to ski when he was 10 or sumthing then he switched to snowboarding. This kid was a realy good snowboarder he could do rodeos and big spins and shit. just last season he decided to swich back to skiing and he is improving quickly. I am just wondering if any of you people out there are ex-boarders.

I board for about 25 minutes a year when PhattBevan steals my skis and leaves me with his piece o' crap hard boot board, does that count??

yeah, you 'n' me are the same cypress, rock on bruther!! Yeah, I found that it felt so gay having both feet stuck to the board and not being independant, it was dumb as. I can see how people would like it though, it's pretty loose and sick. I still like skiing better though, it's faster, higher, stylier so yeah, it's all good.

with a board theres so much time when you turn where you arent on edge and you just slide...unlike skis where you can hop from edge to edge wicked fast...oh ya 500 poasts wwwwwwooooooooooo

i skied for 6 years, boarded for 5 then switched back to skiing

Skogen switched to boarding before newschool existed, so I don't hold anything against him. He switched back once newschool was an avenue. So he is a sweet guy and he rules!

I boarded for a few years, but now that I can do the same thing on skis that I can do on a snowboard, I'm back to skiing (on top of that, I'm free-heeling so I can make the most use of what I learned boarding)

I will do both snow board and ski next year. I will only ride the park with the board and ride all around with the ski.

The fun I had with boarding was riding fakie and laying trenches. You couldn't lay out a deep carve years ago on skis the way you can now

I've tried boarding twice, it's pretty fun but it's freakin painful. The worst I've ever hurt myself while skiing is a little concussion off a jump gone bad, which only lasted a couple days. Both times I went snowbarding my injuries lasted for several weeks, my knee the first time from falling on a patch of ice and my butt the second time from catching an edge. It'd be fun if I were better at it, but skiing gives you more freedom and I'm already pretty good at it so there's no reason to change.

 
My ultimate goal is to land a backside rodeo 720 with a grab on board and do a switch rodeo 720 japan on ski right after it.

powder on a board is way better than pow on skis cuz it feels like your you're floating effortlessly but as for style, skiing wins hands down

I hurt my back when I was young and skied moguls, I took a year off and rode a snowboard for a season. The only time I straped on skis that year was to make a road gap. I switched back the next season and still love both sports but skiing is and always will be my passion. good old ass thread to bring back man.
 
i only snowobarded for 2 years then i mainly snowboarded for one year and went skiing only like 5 times then last year i only snowboarded twice and skied the rest and now i only ski
 
i started skiing at four, then like 6 years later i did both for a couple seasons, then started skiing full time again
 
I tried skiing, and didnt like it, when I was like like 12. THen I picked up shredding and it's sick. I've considered trying freeskiing just for fun, but I dont wanna go out and buy the equipment, so I just gotta find someone to borrow it from.
 
They only thing i liked about it were the boots....and how light the whole set up was. Man those boots were soo fucking comfy.... Plus it felt like i could stall and 180 off of everything. Man our ski shit is soo fucking heavy compared.
 
it seems to go the other way to much! i only know one bloke whos gone back to skiing... but with the state of freesking at the moment i reckon we'll hopefully see it more and more!
 
been boarding for 5 years. gonna start skiing next season.

been fruitbooting for a few years (3? 5?) and been playing hockey since i was 3. so i dont think it will be too hard.
 
i used to ski when i was really little but on my 8th birthday i went snowboarding and snowboarded since. this last season i decided to ski for the last half of the season. and ive gotten alot better really fast.
