aright so we've all seen old wooden skis posted on walls with their edges nailed in, and lace up boots. our shit today looks amazing compared to that. what do u guys think it'll b like 40 yrs from now. will our setups be considered crappy? how much farther can you go w/ skis, bindings, and boots...

the only other sport that has advanced technology more than skiing in the past 10 years was auto racing, and thats a fact.

talk about getting philosophical. I think skiing will take the way of golf soon, which has progressed in a comparable method to skiing. I think you will see more athletes bulking up to get stronger, to pop bigger, ski harder, be tougher, more agile, etc. I think ski techology is peaking, unless something new and revolutionary comes around that most of us will never think of.

and hover skiis are dumb, it would not be skiing anymore

I think there is still a boat load of technology to come in the field of ski equipment. Take a look at those concept HEAD skis for moguls, they have a chip inside each that check every thousandth of a second to adjust the stiffness of the ski to make it better for ur agility and speed in tha moguls. Ya, they made just a few pair and sold for about 5 grand, but that's still amazing. I think we still have a long ass ways to go, I mean twin tips have been around for less than 5 years..... c'mon there's still more

i think that skis wont progress that much more it will be the style, terrain, and balls of the skiers.

i can see skis become one single piece. no lamnation or edges...its all just one piece. i mean the edges are there but there arent seperate.

This made me think of an idea, Im not sure if it would work...but if it did... oh baby. Im not sure if any of you know what Im talking about but on TV I saw these wakeboards that had like a fin on the bottom thta was like 1 meter high and then the wakeboard would lift off the water like 3 feet. Imadgine having skis or a snowboard I guess since it would be more practical, with fins on them so in deep powder you could float above it... Weird idea, dont think it could ever really work praticaly, but it just came to me.

the single piece of material for skiis is possibly the best idea this forum has come up with. I think that we will see some skis like that burton board. where there are no edges right nder the foot. this may have been created already but I forget by who

the ski is one piece. no edges built in. no lamenation, core, layers. it will just some how melt together and work. i can see it now.

OCLV carbon, or really any carbon composite, poles are already carbon, and a few skis have some carbon and all but thats where skiing is headed.. carbon has directional flex, tough as nails, and lighter than anything we've seen yet

it didnt say anything about edges are they carbon fiber too? didnt give any specs on the tail of the R. although it says its the lightest jib ski.

800 scrill. not bad i guess since it costs so much more to make. then the fact it takes 3 to 4 hours rather then 8 to 12 minutes to make a ski.

I imagine ski technology will increase durability and stuff like that. Skis that have bases that don't get chewed up from rails or riding over a rock...That have more flex but can handle speed etc.

We'll have you dead pretty soon.
 
Man, i tihnk of this like, all the time. think of how much skiing has progressed in the past few years. Starting with the movie 13. Wow, tanner as a lil guy. Ok, then Propaganda He is totally sick and Jon'a segment is amazing, then after that Happy DAyz kills it, then look at this years new flicks. it is totally sick. i tihnk that the skiing won't prgress much more. it will be equipment. Example, confortable ski boots that u can drive in, put on in a matter of seconds, won't hurt the shins, and so on. skis that are virtually indestructable (which companys shouldn't do then ppl would have one pair of skis fer the rest of there lives and then those companys would fail). this has prolly all been mentioned but i was too lazt to read all the posts.
