Ski Swap Discoveries?

Usually don't expect to find too much at the swaps but was at Mad River Mountain in Ohio this weekend and stumbled on and bought some '17 Line Blend's within 10 seconds of walking in. Do you guys legitimately find gems at ski swaps?

I definitely have. I like to dig out the skis that have been mounted 3 times, and buy them for cheap... I once got a pair of barely used, twice mounted Icelantic Vanguards for 10$ that I still use.

I also bought a pair of Armada TST's and a pair of Atomic Coax's collectively from a guy for like 70$...

There are some absolute fucking scores out there.

at the killington ski swap this year i found a pair of old ass k2 public enemies with griffons (which i personally dont like but still) for 60 bucks. gonna be my beater ski for the year until they snap.

last year I bought some barely used volkl shiros at a ski swap for $30 and it was still a waste of my money. They are just too goddamn heavy and stiff.

got a pair of FT Seth's with a prototype FT branded lace up liner for $50. They weren't my size, but I stoked out a friend of mine.

well sure but those are some badass big mtn skis. big, heavy, and stiff is just the ticket for the kind of riding those are intended for. you might have some luck selling those to the right person

Ski swaps around here have just become the local shops packing all their shit into a high school gym, marking them down 10% and calling it a ski swap. Like no I didn’t come to Newport Highschool on Saturday morning to pay $599 dollars for last years skis, but thanks.

I was thinking about going to the mad river swap. I would have definitely if they didn't get rid of the fall rail jam. So sad that peak resorts killed it.

First time there place was pretty sweet

I got a pair of 2010 Line Blends with Marker Schizio (Might have spelled that wrong) for $200 with no core shots. They did me well for 2 seasons to ride pow. I got a pair of Rossignol s3's with FKS 140's for $200 once also. Only bought that pair for the bindings because they were mint.

Got some nfx with sth 16s for £60, don't really like them they live under my bed atm but can't beat a bargain

Was at one with my friend and found some fulltilt drop kicks for $70 with booster straps amd they looked brand new. Not my size but my buddy fit em perfect

Wachusett has a dumpster out back for all the reject skis to get turned into chairs and resold for the price of a new set. Shitty to see some perfectly rideable and otherwise fine skis get sawn up for wealthy people so I always try and pick through it when no ones looking.

Some finds over the past few years:

179cm K2 sights with almost new pivots on them

204cm K2 Winter Heats (original 70's version)

176 Skogen Sprang Pros from 2001. I was 5 when they were made. Still use em on the summer setup, all the edges have been pushed up into the core underfoot.

Like 3 pairs of geze toe FKS almost always mint.

got a pair of old ninthward nick greener pro for 50 and a pair of nordica helldorado with marker duke for 75 from a ski swap and a pair of brand new icelantic nomad rkr and a pair of hart mogul skis with pivots for 278 at a sports consignment shop in Rutland VT. Two of my homies got a pair of Nordica Zeros from like 2010 and a pair of the iron maiden k2 from the wachusett ski swap a couple years back

I'm considering getting a season pass there just to pass the time on my days off work while simultaneously trying to not kill myself attempting park again. If you're in college, Fridays are $20 tickets all day until 1am.

Ton of fun even so if you can avoid all the sloppy drunks in jeans who have never been in skis in their life. The weave game is fire.

I already got my peak pass because I live right next to bmbw for when I go home

There were 2 sets of spaceframe yellow 1080's at the Vail swap this year. They wanted too much. Also 161's are too small for me.

At the Killington ski swap I got some Icelandic Nomads with marker jester bindings for 40$. They still rip the park so well such a steal.

The orange ones, the double dragons or the green bombers? I can't remember which was when, but they were all badass.

once I bought a pair of skis and decided i'd take them overseas to ride. on arrival I got sniffed out by the dogs, swabbed me, found traces of coke, but couldn't find any. they decided to drill into my skis and out pours 4kg of the stuff. i'm now in a federal prison serving 40 years.

I feel like I see brand new sets of Jskis for sale all the time. What's up with that? Is J especially popular with impulsive buyers or something?

Good question, I mean this we’re like custom made for the mountain I got them at I think unless they made a Dos Equis collab at some point
