is that all hittable in one run? Either way, great job!!

No, Bottom are two wide (so down rail next to down tube and round rail next to flat tube). Round rail has some crazy hip/tranny stuff going on though, so it should be interesting how people hit it.

will toms be open this weekend ?

Depends if the weather allows for optimal snowmaking conditions, we have the portable snowmakers ready. Looking to be 100% open for Christmas break obviously,

as lord fluff always says: "think cold"

:^)

so if you can only have the same 6 trails you wont open this weekend?

Who said that?

We're working on Toms, if it gets cold, it's on. We put more guns on the trail today than I've ever seen before, heavy push for it to be open this weekend, but the weather is the ultimate deciding factor (like always).

no one. But its not supposed to get very cold this week...

We still plan on re-opening this weekend, that plan and the temps are why we're closed this week...snow will last longer in the warmer temps when it's not skied on. Temps look marginal at best right now, but we'll see.

It's times like this coming week why we stayed closed for so long while others opened. We stock piled our snow instead of pushing it out, snow lasts longer in piles than it does pushed out. I'm almost certain that we have more snow than other CT areas right now, and given temps, ours is more likely to survive the warm lead up to the holiday week. While it was annoying to wait this long to open, and then only settle for a "soft-opening"...it really is for the longevity of the season. We'll make snow when we can, but for now, we're not too worried about losing much.

I'm keying in on early next week through New Years for some natural. Feeling pretty confident you guys will get hooked up. Some key players coming into the game. 75% confidence in 6"+ by the new year.

any more news on this weekend?

Just check the facebook page, it'll be updated there first. And most likely won't be decided until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest.

Friday at 3.

at this time i want to leave rail set ups as they are in the name of snow preservation until there is some snowmaking.

i know you understand

Snowmaking Finally Resumes Tonight!!!

feels like its been forever.

we'll lose a couple features on Stinger this week while the guys bury the mountain. we've been committed to 4 nights of snow guns on Stinger. meaning, total coverage and park by this time next week.

with the cold temps foretasted and the water levels sufficient, we're gonna be in great shape for a proper park build real soon.

Woooooord! It was getting a bit sketchy out there after such warm temps and rain... I'll be there today after hunting, I lol'd at the sign in front of Toms yesterday, it was something like

"low snow coverage, enter at own risk" haha

"Thin and narrow coverage" ...it was necessary. I got a kick out of people asking why there weren't any features on Tom's...

will the jump on stinger be up on saturday for the line tc?

Restructure tonight, snowmaking all week (it's gonna be cold), full build/rebuild on both trails is PLANNED for Thursday night and Friday morning. Jumps are in the plan, but we won't know until we see the snow we're working with.

would it be worth it to try and ski friday or should I just wait til saturday

Might want to wait, Stinger will be closed until about noon for building, Tom's won't have features until after that and those are going in by hand so they might take some time.

Finishing up the parks now.

Stinger: flat tower, dfd, tall flat tower, up rail to flat tower, 32' down rail, banked c rail.

Tom's: flat rail, donkey, flat round rail.

Looking like our new trail Satan's Stairway will also be opening tomorrow, putting us at 100% open.

you guys have enough snow for jumps?

Maybe

any park changes for this weekend

No

Snowmaking will be finishing up this Friday, then we're all clear for constant re-arrangement. Tom's might get some features put in by hand Friday/Saturday, other than that, we're looking to do a proper build on Tom's first, then rebuild Stinger. We'll know more about jumps/rebuilds/ect early next week.

i cant believe its already jan 22 and the park has so little set up...it would be nice to have a jump or something this weekend

Stinger is actually pretty sick right now, like it has a really nice flow to it... Kinda hard for the park crew when they lost a big chunk of space because of Satans Stairway.

IMO 2 features again at the very top would be sick, when you guys have the cats available up there and dont have to do it all by hand

I was in a cat last night on Toms to create a jump. My new job as the ski school guy has me juggling time and resources differently than in the past. Now that Ops is on the other side of a very challenging snowmaking schedule, i'll be in late a few nights a week to train cat operators. We built a small jump (10foot???) and a couple rail decks last night. features will go in by hand on Friday, as we are committed to helping the race team this morning setting B net on Gunny for a big race weekend.

Please bear in mind, the park staff consists of me, 7 guys with shovels with real life jobs, and all of the other responsibilities of running a very small ski area on a budget. We learn something new every season as our schedules get tossed into very different orders...

that said, i understand you don't care, and have demands and needs. so, sorry.

Toms will be half built for a couple weeks. after the weekend we turn our attention to Stinger, where we have a plan... catch obviously is that i am doing no one favors by doing everything myself... the over night staff is stoked to be involved and try hard. they've historically not been doing the builds, just the day to day groom... moving forward, i'll be working with those guys to create new features on both trails and have them do some of the pushing.

keep us honest over the rest of the season, if you have criticisms, say something... ideally, take a lift ride with one of the guys. we're not dicks. i promise.

i'm looking forward to the next couple months. we should be able to build some fun times.

i worked on Tom's last night. built some rollers, a weird snow dog house thing that may not last the weekend - to be turned into a regular spine. an additional rail deck and an additional jump. so two rails, two jumps.

that's about as much as i'll be putting on Tom's due to traffic demands of the masses.

next week, i think we'll swap the down bar for the big dfd. thoughts?
