Ski Selection

I am 6’ 180 lbs. Been skiing and snowboarding hard most of my life. Mostly snowboarding, but because of my ski race background as a kid I am able to keep up with, and outperform some of my western homies that I ski with during my Utah days. I’m looking for a ski that is playful but can hold up at speed. I moved from Utah to North Carolina and all my skis are 115+ underfoot. I didn’t ski much park in Utah mainly up at Alta and the bird, hence the wider skis. My new home mountain will be either Sugar or Cataloochee, and if I decide to ski them instead of snowboard I will need a proper setup. I imagine due to the size of these NC hills I would like a ski that I can butter around on and hit small side hits so I don’t get bored just carving down the 1000’ vert all day. But I also want the ability to hold an edge and handle ice and fake snow. I appreciate your advice.

Thanks

Welcome to NC, sugar is way better when they open up all the runs. App has the best park that’s the only reason to go there is just to ski park. I ski faction prodigy 1’s, I got buddies that ski 105 underfoot and some that ski 87. The hills are small if you’re just lapping them you will get bored quick.

Bentchetler 100 sounds like a great option for you. It is playful enough for jibbing around the hill and it can carve very well. I even ski mine in the park sometimes and it works great. It is truly a great ski in all conditions.
