What's the most you've even been tipped?

This is my first season teaching 3-6 year-olds and I have been tipped...nada. I'm not really expecting to be tipped because it's Keystone, but I just want to ask.

well if you teach a crew for a ski schools season most likely you would get tipped big at the end of the season from the parents

20 bucks is the most i get on a good day. but i dont think most people know that they should actually tip their kids instructors.

*** most i get from one person. but i usually teach 7 - 12 year olds in a group all day and i sometimes get 1 parent that'll tip. when i do individuals it's different

Well, the parents are already paying $150 for a day lesson for a single kid. I only get paid $10 an hour and that's before taxes.

Parents should tip.

Well its hard for them to justify tipping, I mean they just spent a ton of money and they are hesitant to tip since they arent really sure how good of a job you did. I mean if their kid says they liked you I guess tey would be more likely, but many parents barely listen to what their kids actually say. Either way, im sure you deserve it, but if you really want a tip you should just bribe the little fuckers until they think you are a god and cant stop telling their parents how fun and amazing you are~

10 bucks in chile so thats a lot..my brother when working in deer valley got 100 dollar tips more than once..but again, in deer valley.

I took a group of 7 kids for a 5 hour lesson, parents gave me 70 bucks, 10 bucks a kid, makes sense

So you think they should pay you extra after the fact so you will want to do a better job in the future?

Your logic blows~

About $50 cdn for a full days work a few times. Americans tip by far the most, way more than brits, euros, aussis, canadians, asians or central/south americans. I know people who have been tipped weed, hundreds of dollars and in one very special case, a new car. But shit like that is pretty rare.

And on a side note, you have no idea how close you came to working with HUGGY. A legend, and a former housemate of mine.

I got $20 for a kids group lesson one day in Whistler, and I think $40 for a series of private lessons here in Ontario.

I find Americans tip better than Canadians.

Yeh i got $50 onece. cus i gave the guy and his daughter mad coupons for lift tickets ans shit. and then he came back and requested a private giving me mad cash.

I've only ever done 2 lessons, but got tipped well. 100 from one guy and I think like 45 from the other. Just gotta know your stuff and make the parents happy.

If you want tips put down the ski poles

and get on the stripper pole (wink)

or learn how to tech skis and you'll have plenty of the smokable drinkable tips you need.

cereal you have to pay your dues and get private lessons before you get tipped much

last year i got twenty form one guy every saterday for a month, fourty was the most one of my buddies got a 100$ giftcard to dunks last year

i know some people that lurk around the lesson area and tell people that thhe will give them a lesson and that thhe has all the same qualifications an the instructors.....and he will charge less then the price the resort charges and he gets to keep it all....

[claim] 300 bucks after i tought this family from texas for a week, turned out to be real good skiiers [/claim]

i got tipped $40 once but the guy also forgot his two kids for over an hour. i was mad at first then it was like cool that is more then i make all day

I don't understand. Never been to Summit County. I live in an igloo in Alaska, we don't have hot ski chicks here...that I know of.

They parents probably realized that you can't actually ski, so they don't want to tip you for doing such a shitty job. You're complaining because your a ski instructor at Keystone? You're the one who picked one of the shittier jobs available, and working for Vail Resorts. Enjoy that.

Have you seen me caring lately? I don't have anything positive to say to you because there is nothing positive about you, at all.
Have fun lapping Schoolmarm all day 'progressing' yourself. Maybe you can finally work all season, get that courage up and finally hit the first jump 20 foot jump on the small side in A-51, only to case it and lose motivation for the reason of the season.
At least you're in Keystone where there are so few girls that guys will actually go for you. On the plus side, the guys there drink enough to fade out everything that you say, so at least that can't ruin it for you.

I'm a better skier than I was at the end of last season. I've only had 10 days so far this season. The kids are a lot of fun to hang with. It feels good to have a part in their future. Next Tom Wallisch? Maybe so. I got a Level 2 kid today to butter. How sick is that? BTW I use Schoolmarm now to work on my switch skiing and butters.

When I taught I one got tipped 2 times teaching for 3 years. I really didn't mind though because I got a free season pass and i got a paycheck. The most I got in a tip was 10 bucks, but hey, you get to ski and get paid for it so it's all good.
