Ski Sales - Top Selling Skis?

Anybody know what skis sold most last season, I'm guessing the Dumont sold pretty well.

+ karma for any info/stats
 
Either silencers or fujatives. You may think im crazy for sayin that but, those 2 skis are sold in stores like sportscheck and all of those popular sports stores. Most newcomers dont really know about other brands and pick up that one.
 
I don't know but i would guess some of the price points. It'd be interesting to see which skis sold the most vs. which ones were the favorites
 
Id like to know some stats about overall ski sales as well. My guess is that everything Salomon, Rossignol and K2 did very well. Specifically their price point skis. We should definitely limit this thread to twin-tip/freeride only skis though. The overall selling ski last season was probably an entry level solly or rossi ski they sell at Sportcheck.
 
i dont have stats but i would agree with the public enemy being one, if not the most popular and well selling ski ever. most kids who ride twins dont like them, but the average recreational skier that goes into like, REI or someplace to get a good all mountain ski with "revolutionary twin tip design", most of the time the salesmen will end up selling them the PE.
 
Pretty sure it is rental skis. I think I remember seeing a rossi thing and they sold some ridiculous amount of some rental ski a year. like thousands of it....

If you are asking top twin sold, that is something completely different.
 
Roughly 45,000 twin tip skis were in the market this past year. Sales went up about 32% for ALL brands in specialty retailers. The biggest jump was online retail sales which saw a huge increase of 167% in units sold (Unit= 1 set).
 
^holy wow.. i could tell that there were defidently mre twins on the mountain this yeear.. usualy about 6 or 7 guys at my mountain --> 12 - 15 this year..  but hands down, the PE is top seller.
 
they produced more skis this year solely because they were the number 3 seller of twins in the world, something like 100 pairs behind salomon and and rumor has it they crushed them this year. theyve got no chance at catching k2 for the top spot tho.

as for the public enemy, schmies correct me if im wrong, but its the top selling twin of all time. and as for this year, the silencer flew off shelves in my store. we restocked three times. we do a lot of business to older guys wanting to go wider but want a conservative graphic
 
Agreed. The PE is cheap as hell and gaper magazines keep rating it the best for some reason. It's a 2x4, I hate it.
 
thats why they replaced it with the extreme, so it has old ppl graphics (i like them though).
every old timer and their old timer mother is gonna be on those next year

 
Not even close, alot of people on NS had it but if you went to any mountain you might see one or two wheras even invaders you would see 3-4 and probably 10+ pairs of PE's.
 
people getting into park but dont actually know shit about it get invaders it seems (not saying people on invaders are shit, just gaper park skiers always seem to have invaders too).
 
Are you considering europe and the rest of the world/southern hemisphere?

Because companies like line are going to be out the running if you are.

I can't speak for everyone, but we (Decade) sold more Line Anthems than any ski.

Line in general is our best selling ski brand.

To elaborate, we sold every pair of EP pro's that we initially ordered, BEFORE SNOW FLEW, let alone before we even got them. We did a re-order of those, (and of course anthems), and sold them all out again super fast.

The Elizabeth/sir francis bacon were pretty much the same.. This is probably the only ski that someone has walked in, cruised right back to the ski wall, grabbed a pair, and walked directly up to the counter to be "rung up" for.. It's hilarious.

Prophet 100, also sold the crap out of these things, definitely my favorite ski to sell, because whoever bought them almost always comes back into the shop telling me how surprised they were, and how much they love them. (usually that customer is 25 or older, and isn't a park rider obviously) can't wait for the new mothership next year, as it is going to make a lot of big mtn. skiers happy.

Line wasn't the only brand successful for us, but it's the one that sticks out for fastest seller/best seller.
not to say LIne ski's are better than the other guys either, but we are a twin tip only/snowboard skateboard shop, so obviously Line is going to be more successful for us than say, Atomic, or Salomon, who primarily caters to the older crowd.. although on that note, Atomic has some great twin tips...

I think next years Armada JJ is going to be a hot seller, and of course the above mentioned Line stuff.
 
probably not a twin at all, probably some gaper ski like a k2 apache or something, not that many people ride twins
 
hellbents did not sell well cuz of the graphic. but my shop sold out quickly of all its Line and the othe K2 twins

How do you know that though? You say that because 45,000 twin tip skis were sold last year that shows that the guy is wrong. You can't tell that from that figure you need the total number of skis sold to make any conclusion about whether there are lots of twin tips or not. e.g. if 450,000 skis are sold in a year twin tips are only 10 percent of the market which is fuck all.
