Ski Resorts close to Cornell/Ithaca NY

So yea, I've been accepted to Cornell to finish my economics degree (from Australia).

Are there any decent ski resorts in the Ithaca region? What is the feasibility of trying to ski every weekend over winter??

I don't mind travelling for a few hours each way, cost is more an issue. Are there deals you can get for frequent travelling?

In my home town it takes 12 hours to get to the snowfields, for hardly any snow, so I'm wanting to make the most of my time in the states.

def greak peak, that should only be about 45 min away, Bristol is a bigger mountain and thats a couple hours, but worth the drive

greek is like 30-45 minutes it's the closest place, but like everywhere in new york it sucks, it's about the same as bristol but closer, greek is by far the best choice from cornell

I lived in Ithaca for a while, and I mostly skied at Labrador. Greek Peak is about 35 minutes away, but it gets old real quickly. Labrador is an hour away, and has a much better park. Toggenburg has been upping their game with a better park the last few years, but thats like an hour and 15 away from you.

Toggenburg is probably an hour and 15 minutes or so from Ithaca, message me if you want to check it out before you buy a pass anywhere, i'll hook you up for a weekend.

i live a half hour away from bristol. it probably only a couple hours from you and its pretty good for a NY resort

^bout 40 minutes south and a little east of rochester.

i'd say greek is the best bet. its prolly as good as maybe better than bristol, and definetly the closest. dont even bother with holiday valley.

Bristol, Holiday Valley, Peak n Peak, thiers more ask me if you want some details..... i live in buffalo so i got a couple around me

Greek is the closest and its really not too bad for being small. The park is getting much better every year, I've heard its now better than Tog's. This year might be a little up in the air though as our old park crew mostly moved out west so personnel may be lacking. Most of New York isn't too good in general, but there's good stuff in Vermont, about 4-5 hours away. Whiteface is like 3-4 hours.

For deals, you can get a college season pass at Greek for 125$ I think. Don't know about other places.

hey..congrats on getting into cornell..i go to cortland state... greek peak, labrador, song montain, and tog are all fairly close..lab has the best park, then probably tog, greek, and last is song..a season pass for a college student at lab is 150 and at greek its 140.. greek is the best place for all over skiing.. but lab has the best park.!

Cheers for all the info people.

Seems like Lab and Greek are the best bets.

How does transport work? Do people normally drive to resorts or are there coach/train options?

I wouldn't mind catching a train for a few hours on a regular basis, but driving would get old fairly quickly.

What is the difference in terrain/vertical between greek and lab? Much in the way of lift lines?

bristo, holiday valley, etc. are far and expensive. go with greek and i think college students get a discounted pass price. also tog and lab are close and not as expensive

yo.. i have lived around cortlnd my whole life and i'v been an instructor at lab the past 3 years...so i v been there mostly.. i'm not workin there this year tho so i just bought a pass.. but i plan on going to greek a bit too
